Commando Workout

    Has anyone tried following the Commando Workout book by Simon Waterson?

    I bought it at the weekend and it seems quite impressive. Basically it involves you doing 2 half hour sessions a day (pre brekkie power walk/jog, evening weights sesh, only trainers, bench and dumbells required), and after 4 weeks he reckons you'll be reasonably fit and look and feel a lot better.

    Diet and nutrition advice also provided

    I'm into my third day of it now and feel good about myself, even if that beer gut isn't shifting just yet

    It appears to be the most sensible and motivating way of getting fit and healthy, in the process shedding a few pounds. Unlike some other diets bandied around...

    Was just wondering if anyone has tried it and had good success with it, especially the motivation part to keep going for 6 days out of 7 for four weeks - only 3 days in it hasn't been a problem, but the weekend is on the way...

    Sounds fine, I have seen some general books on training - like the SAS handbook etc.

    They cover a lot of bases and will bring you a bit up to speed, however make plans for what you want to do after the 4 weeks. These books are good kick starts, but training and conditioning is ongoing, you never get to stop - this is probably the biggest thing you need to accept if you want to keep improving.

    So find something you enjoy doing that you'll be motivated to keep doing afterward. Surprisingly I found that I quite enjoy running, try a few things out.
