Ok its been years since i posted about Quake or any other FPS game,

But in these days of heady games populated by Muppets(no offense to Muppets the world over) How about a return to those days of '97.

That is how about i Pitch my (Army)tent again and have a revival?


That said If there is any Interest how about Quakefest 03?

Same theme, More Beer, More food, Same company?

Ahh a NOOb.. well if yah check on www.quake.ie look at MP's forum you will find some info, or maybe Eric has some of the Quakefest 97 stuff in mothballs , and he may bring it out for all to see.

I missed the first one, but I won't miss this one! QW all the way - we had plenty of it at the last Galway LAN and the fun was most evident (and it was really strange seeing Cloud-Warrior, DeVore and Kharn on a QW scorelist again).

So long as it's a weekend it's all good!

aiight if the time is allocated 50/50 bewteen qw and q3 ill definatly go. Its near impossible to get people to play qw at any lans in the last year its always intended to play a few games of qw but it always ends up being q3 only. And q2 ya whatever, whoever the 4 people in ireland that have played it in the last 3 years can knock themselves out but i defintely wont be playing it, no offense to q2 players. And darren for godsake qw is the best quake of the lot by far, ill get mixu or someone to set you up with fuhquake or something, you'll get all your 32bit frills and particle something something explosions etc. Respect.

actually eamo, i was tyring to tie in the brown shadowy look u have in your q3 cfg. how the **** do i get rid of the really bright lights tho (ie above rail YA on pro-t4)

How about some doom too? Might be a blast... I know its not Doomfest, but lets face it, all us old bastards spent many a night trying to get a game of multiplayer doom going before quake was invented...

Actually, thats not a bad idea... there's some pretty good Doom mods out there ( jdoom etc.).. I've been dieing to try them out in a DM.

...but quake first and foremost of course...

A while back their was a QuakeLan in NetHouse, not that it has anything to do with Quakefest, but just that it had something to do with Quake.

Short answer....he doesn't

you get rid of those really bright lights on t4 and the likes by lowering r_intensity. You will probably have to tweak other settings to make up for the clarity lost by lowering that command though.

Why bother with the brown-shadowyness? Those are just silly settings for nostaligic quakeworlders. Whats wrong with regular high picmips?

they're not silly settings for nostalgic quakers, they increase fps if youre on a slow machine, and make the game much clearer so you can see better and enemies are more visible.

I have been a busy trooper and have a sponsor for the Fest, Have to meet and discuss the Ranso.. i mean the sponsorship for this event.

Thats all i have done as im busy for the next 2 weeks, but after that, im all yours, oops wrong thread

Anyway i will post as soon as i have over 50% of the event covered, im not putting all my own cash in this one !!
