If you're talking about standard weights, Argos are actually good value compared to sports shops like Elvery's, JJB etc. For instance, you can get 2 X 10 kg plates in Argos for 23 euros in Elvery's you'd pay around twice the price. The "weights sets" (dumbells + bar + plates) sold by Argos also seem to be good value. They offer a 50 kg set for around 80 euros and you can then buy additional 10 kg plates to go with it. You say that the Argos weights are too light are you sure? Depends on what level you're at I suppose. If you're going for Argos weights make sure to go for the cast iron ones NOT the crappy vinyl ones. If you're looking to get Olympic weights be prepared to pay an awful lot more. Argos don't do Olympic weights at all, Elvery's do but they're extremely expensive.

keep us posted cyberdog, if you find what you're looking for.
I was thinking of going for the 80 euro set as well, but those screwie things are a pain. Prefer clips.

You'll probably need need Olympic weights and bars then. 120 kg sounds like far too much to put on a standard bar as sold by Argos etc. You can definitely get Olympic stuff in Elvery's but you'll pay a few hundred euros for bars and weights. Don' t know if you can get them cheaper anywhere else. There are a few elvery's shops around dublin. There's one in the blanchardstown centre which is very handy for parking which is a major consideration if you're going to be lugging 120 kg around :)
