    Hey Guys

We have setup this non profit website, to record each and every one of your connections speeds via various online tests.

The site will also tell you your download speed and connection speed.

It is planned for the site to be quite detailed supplying you with a heap of information.

But in order to supply you with quailty information we need to get a heap of speed tests as I said they are all recored so we can actual find out the fastest ISP's from what area and supply you with that informtion along with ratios and availability.

If the mods find this any way pimpy just bin it however its a non profit site dedicated to gathering information.

The speed test is based in Data Electronics in Dublin.

The site is on phase 1 it will improve and be updated and hold more content as soon as we get the speed testing information we need.

    http://www.irishspeedtest.com

    Thanks

    Tom

Here is the result of the Arklow i stream starter pack jury:p

    Your current bandwidth reading is:

    440.40kbps

which means you can download at 55.05 KB/sec. from our servers.

I'd be pretty happy with that considering it's radsl and I'm two miles from the exchange and out in the middle of the country.

On an unrelated note: Tom, you should get people to choose their ISP from a drop down and maybe the connection they have and store the results somewhere. Then, when enough tests have actually been performed, it will be possible to see which is the most reliable ISP in Ireland. I'm sure you can also find much more interesting uses for the data too :)

my Irish Broadband connection KICKS ass nowadays, consistantly over 300k downloads (e.g. about 30kilobytes/sec). And pings are finally good

Well all the ips are being logged and we can tell who the ISP is from them, however the connection is a good one hmm people maybe one half meg or meg line ture.

We will have to review that.

I'm also not officially covered on that map..
Pings aren't amazing but download speeds are usually better than RADSL, 450-550k sometimes more. I'm pretty happy with it!

They say we're going to be upgraded to 1mbit for free in the next few weeks. I have my fingers crossed..

is it any good for xbox live...do you live in the park?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 463 ✭✭Emerson

I don't have an XBOX myself, but I know the wireless Ethernet Router packaging that came with the installation had an XBOX compatible logo on the front...

I don't live in the park, but I know that the further east (towards Killiney hill) you live of the N11, the higher your chances are of passing for it. This is because there are obstacles (trees and such) that block the view of 3 Rock Mountain as you get closer to it.
