Where to get loose plates

I'm looking to buy some loose plates (weights without bars) in the Leinster/Dublin area. This question was asked here before and a place on the quays in Dublin was recommended. But I'd prefer to go somewhere with easier parking.

I know Argos sell 10 kg plates but I'm looking for lighter ones, say 5 - 7.5 kg. I had a look in JB sports they sell loose plates but they're expensive - 11 euros for a 5 kg plate. That's a ripoff in my book. Do Elvery's sell loose plates?

Anyone have any ideas. PS The weights I need are for bars with a diameter of 2.5 cm i.e. not Olympic bars.

    Thanks

Most sportshops would have plates, well the bigger ones do. Now if the are for olympic size bars only I'm not too sure.

I'll do a search for you later on.

I'm finding it surprisingly difficult to find plates. Tried a Lifestyle sports shop - no weights of any type. And it was quite a large branch of Lifestyle (outside Dublin though, maybe the Dublin branches are better stocked?) Tried a couple of other smaller sports shops - no joy. What the hell do I have to do to get some weights. Its not as if I'm looking for serious bodybuilding equipment Olympic bars or whatever FFS all I'm looking for is a few 5 kg cast iron plates!

    Sorry Brian,

No luck for me either. Tried the net. Everything is olympic size.

All the shops in my area don't do weights. tried limerick and clonmel.

    Sryy dude.

    hey runfree,
Elvery's do weights, I'm sure of that but I don't know whether you can buy them loose. I'll check when I get a chance.

As I said in the original post, JB sports sell them loose but 11 euros for ONE 5 kg plate when I need a minimum of 4 and probably 8 is just too much.

As for the Olympic bars/weights there's probably a very small marekt for them here very specialised etc. I haven't seen any sign of them anywhere. But as you say they're on the net still imagine getting olympic size weights shipped over from the UK or wherever - postage costs - OUCH! Anyhow I will keep looking and will post here if I find what I'm looking for.

    Thanks
