New Ross : Why's it Cheap

I've seen terraced houses advertised for sale in New Ross at under €85000 !

Considering the price of houses nowadays, this makes me wonder if there's anything wrong with the place??

    Is there??

Everything is wrong with the place. What a dive. The only good thing in it is the bridge to get outta the place. As for nights out!!! Definitely a no go area, you're more than likely going to end up in hospital with stitches. Full of travellers as well. Nothing good with the place at all.

kensutz may be crude but he's right!:ninja:

WOO HOO! Someone agrees with me. Lol. Along with the whole of Ireland - bar New Ross.

Actually I live in New Ross and I personally dont think its cheap apart from the price of petrol which is the chepaest in Ireland.
For E 85,000 you would get a small 1 bed house with no garden etc, far away from town centre. Reckon you all need to open your eyes a little!

The going price of a 3 bed room house in New Ross is E 120,000 at least and a new house is E150,000 to start with.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,200 ✭✭✭kensutz

Actually thats the only good point I forgot to mention. The dirt cheap petrol. Maybe it's to attract visitors lol.

Ah well New Ross is in need of a new nightclub lol
Reckon Waterford is a bit far away for us heavy drinkers to travel to. Anyway we might get REFUSED admission into the likes of the Manor CLub (Club LA) See we are not all stupid either here ha ha

Club LA is no more mate.. and hasnt been for a long while..

Its now a rather large and fairly stylish pub called Masons..

But the some of the clientele (sp?) seem a bit up their own arses.. :D

No...Ross needs to be filled in with quick drying cement and soon.
Maybe they can use the left over cement from that tunnel?

I work with a lad from new ross and i swear he's inbred.
All he's short of is a banjo. Sure he's always humming the banjo tune anyway.

I grew up not very far from New Ross and was never very impressed by it. There are very few shops, bare basics really, and anything that is there is very expensive. The music shop?? crazy prices.
As for going out in , well that's something I wouldn't wish on anyone. There are lots of fit chicks in Ross and its possible to score but whats a little un-nerving is the gangs of blokes that ignore these women and just want to start a fight with the first person they dont recognise. Thats not a healthy pass time.

It is pretty close to Waterford, thats a plus point.

My father grew up in New Ross, until he saw sense and moved to Waaaaterfard! The last time I've actually been walking around in New Ross was for that big concert on the quay (which sucked btw)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 81 ✭✭MazyMo

Heck!! - didn't realise I was gonna get such a reaction about New Ross!!

So, is this the worst town in the area??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9 irish wizz

Seems like you all think New Ross is full of ****e!

Well i have news for you, I HAVE seen worst towns than New Ross and I personally wont insult anyones intelligence by stating the names of places.

However there is no doubt that new ross lacks lots of things, that the shops are overprices with little or no choices in fashion (for women) and this is from a man!

As for kensutz's post re attracting visitors I think we have enough with out advertsing cheap petrol

But i have to agree with the post from Rolo Tomasi stating how men in this town ignore women, its a fact, well proven as well as the mental attuide of fellas in the company of these girls.

But i have also seen this attuide in both Waterford & Wexford!HAVE

If you want a proper head kickin' Galway's the place to be.
If you think New Ross is bad for the Knackers, Galway's your only man.

Anyone hear about the poor swedish guy who was beaten to a pulp in new ross at the weekend.
He's on a life support machine now.
Saw the local gougers trying to wreck a table outside a pub as well.
    Really rough place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,472 ✭✭✭AdMMM

Just proves the New Ross is a fuc|<ing sh1thole. I mean who would want to live in a town where most the guys are more interested in KILLING someone they don't recognise. I hope the gang that did this are caught!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,484 ✭✭✭✭Stephen

The swedish guy is dead now.

Are there any other towns in Tipperary South, Waterford or Wexford which someone should be careful in (if you're not a local)?

Or is this town just a one-off?

No, not at all. In Galway most people will mind their own business and keeps their fueds amoungst themselves but ross is a free for all.
It was bad went i went there [secondary school] but now its a disaster.

What's Wexford like in comparison to New Ross?

Is Wexford an ok place, and fairly safe?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,682 ✭✭✭chernobyl

knackers...and what else did wexford give us?...strawberries.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 81 ✭✭MazyMo

Do you mean Wexford is full of knackers & strawberries?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 101 ✭✭NedNew

The circus arrived in New Ross last year. Luckily one of the zebra's managed to escape. Unfortunately for him he was caught and had to go through with the show.

Ross has two night clubs that have been shut down. A cinema that shut down years ago. It needs a decent company to come along with a few hundred jobs.

Until then the crumble will continue.

But in saying that, Clonroche is a complete kip too and the town
    is full knackers and scumbags..

Especially that estate on the left as you come into the town from
    New Ross.. whatever its called..

Was out in Enniscorthy a few years back for that strawberry fair,
was having great craic for the night we were there, when we
were heading back to waterford the following evening, we
stopped off in Clonroche for a few drinks thinkin it looked ok and
went into one of the pubs there...

Seemed cool enuff, nice local pub, drink was well priced and a nice
open fire.. but that changed quickly enuff.. one of the lads was in
the bathroom, some assh*le started on him and headbutted him
for no apparent reason apart from my mate telling him he didnt
    want any trouble..

After it all finished, one of the locals told us that yer man was from
the estate up the road and the whole place is full of em,
scumbags who have nothing better to do than cause hassle and
    fight...

So there is another place I would avoid..

Yeah the guys sitting at the bar were sound enough as was the old guy behind the bar..

Ive been at the strawberrty fair a few times in the past, well not
the fair itself, more the pubs and the bar extensions that they
have as they seem never to close.. Always a class session.. :D

Ive also heard of that place, with the night club out in the arse
hole of no where, Killane, where all the clonroche heads go..
apparently Saturday night there is like a mix of a scene from
    deliverance and Beruit....

That would be Rackards of Killane - if you ever want to see the vast selection of checked shirts in one place, well Rackards is the place to go :D

Always fighting and all kinds of goings on out there!!!

New Ross and Clonroche are on a par with each other, neither better than the other, and the road to Kilkenny is not the best thing to come out of New Ross (the Rower anyone...tsk)
New Ross needs some serious Urban Renewal, some E.U grants, and a cinema , and has the potential to be an 'ok' place.
I haven't gone out in New Ross since the days of the Colosseum, when the sewerage from the ladies toilet used to seep down into the men's... ah those were they days........!!!!
Wexford town is getting better and better(with the longest bridge in Ireland)!
County Wexford has some very talented people, particularly in the Arts... Eoin Colfer, Salthouse, some great scenery(the hook), and sporting legends.
Although a serious amount of teenage pregnancies.

But it's not all bad ya know lads.
