Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Welcome, one and all, to the grand reveal of UK vs USA Sheep

Who will come out on top of this Intercontinental collision, this Brit-Am Battle, this… well, you get the gist :pac:

Here is a quick reminder of the questions:

    1. A city in the UK (not London)
    2. A city in the USA (not New York)
    3. A county in the UK beginning with the letter S
    4. A state in the USA beginning with the letter M

    8. A team who had won the Super Bowl (2010-2020)
    9. A TV show based in London
    10. A TV show based in New York
    11. A famous building or landmark in the UK
    12. A famous building or landmark in the USA
    13. A UK singer/band who had a #1 song from 2018-2020
    14. A USA singer/band who had a #1 song in 2020
    15. A word that can either follow the word ‘British’ or ‘English’
    16. A word that can follow the word ‘American’

At 6.45pm, I will reveal what the rules are in regard to the bonus point system, a part of the game that I had to - ahem - subtlety remind a few of you to nominate an answer for :D

And at 7pm, we will get started with the reveal properly

I will be back to kick things off very soon :)

Before I reveal the answers, it’s time to reveal how the bonus point system is going to work

Quite simply, points will be awarded or deducted on a Double Or Nothing basis

If the bonus answer you nominated is a Sheep as predicted, then it will score you double points

However, if the answer you nominated is not a Sheep, then it will score you zero points

So, how are we feeling about our choices now…? :p

    It’s showtime!

    1. A city in the UK (not London)

There were just five different answers submitted for this question, including the cities of Cardiff, Liverpool and Manchester. But did any of those three cities Sheep, and was anyone lucky enough to nominate the right answer as their bonus?

(If a player has an asterisk beside their name, it means they had their scores for that round doubled)

Irelandrover and Ectoplasm get off to the perfect start, but with more bonuses to come, it’s going to be a big ask to retain top spot for the whole game

    3. A county in the UK beginning with the letter S

Lots of varied nominations for this one, including at least two that are definitely wrong. Good thing we’re playing Sheep, so they’ll score regardless. Pictured are three definitely correct answers, those being the picturesque counties of Staffordshire, Suffolk and Surrey.

A close spread of answers means that Surrey is the highest-scoring answer, but only just. Unfortunately, Spook_ie becomes the first victim of the ‘Nothing’ side of the Double Or Nothing rule.

A close-scoring round for most means that not much changes at the top of the table. A lot of players in the chasing back clambering for a charge at the top should have the leaders worried.

    4. A state in the USA beginning with the letter M

Out of eight potential answers, seven of them were chosen. But which one did people gravitate towards? Was it the beautiful, coastal state of Maine, the hardest state to spell correctly, Massachusetts, or the state sharing its name with a well-known river, Mississippi?

The answer to my question is ‘none of them’, as it is actually Michigan which ends up on top. It is quite a low-scoring Sheep, however, which would have been a waste of a Double.

The answer to my question is ‘none of them’, as it is actually Michigan which ends up on top

    What? Why?

    What? Why?

I was quite confused by that was well tbh, especially with how low-scoring Detroit was two questions ago

    5. A prime minister of the UK (1960-2000)

There were only three different answers nominated here, one of which is the incumbent PM, who was nominated by more than one person. Which one of these ‘fine’ individuals did you throw your support behind?

A country in teh UK beginning with S would have been an easy question!

The Iron Lady is a big scorer - and even bigger still if you were one of the lucky 7 to nominate it as their Double Or Nothing. Some people seem to have mis-read the time period in the question, which isn’t promising for the next round either… :pac:

Not quite, still have four options to choose from:

    Scotland
    Sasana
    Six Counties
    Sheep Shaggers
I was quite confused by that was well tbh, especially with how low-scoring Detroit was two questions ago

    * Biggest 'M' state in terms of population.
    * Big lake.
    * Easier to spell than Massachusetts or Mississippi
    * Much talked about swing state in the Election.
    * Mean Girls reference ;)

A seismic shift at the top of the table, as cee_jay becomes the new leader thanks to a Doubled score. And a pretty good one at that. Will his other answers be good enough to hold off the future Doubles to come?

    Scores after question 5:

    Player Score
    *cee_jay 143
    *$hifty 131
    *Sawduck 130
    Zaph 127
