Cause I only live 10 minutes from a area to ride and makes no point in me getting a trailer

same question here from the other day: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2058045986

It'll need to be road legal in the UK, and I would suggest it have a current valid MOT. It will also need an odomoter so Revenue can record mileage: if it's under 6 months old or has less than 6k kms on it, you'll have to pay 23% as well.

As in the other thread: see if anyone will insure it as well.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Putting lights and indicators on a competition MX bike is not that simple, you will have to make a full loom up with regulator rectifier, battery etc.

Don't all vehicles have to be Euro 4 or better to be reg in Ireland? Can't see a 2 stroke meeting any Euro regulations so it can't be registered.

If the YZ is not road legal in the UK, it won't be here, so you won't be able to register it anyway.

Look for a road legal enduro bike.

If it's a first registration then it will be considered new, it will go onto a 201 plate.

The EXC refers to Enduro Cross Country, Many Enduro machines are road legal and come with lights etc.
The YZ is a pure MX machine and not at all designed for Enduro apart from specialist conversions.

If it's already road legal in England, is there not already lights and a clock on it?
Indicators are not a legal requirement.

You can get a daylight-only MOT in the UK.
Speedo would be a requirement there, but not necessarily an odometer.
Not sure the latter is a legal requirement here, either, but you'll be hit for VAT if it doesn't have one.

OP, whatever you get do yourself a favour and present at the VRT on a trailer, or maybe a van.

DAMHIK, it would take too long but suffice to say I presented 3 times before I cleared an EXC 200 (and, rightly or wrongly, the VRT inspector said I had to have indicators).

it's more than the VAT - they'll flat out refuse to register it without an odometer
