As of to morrow the 90kph limit on national roads is to become 80kph.
There will be an exception to this if the road has a safety steel barrier in the centre. French police have being doing less and less mobile radar checks but Im expecting they will return for at least a few days with this change in place.

80kmh would feel like walking pace on many of the better N roads here or former N roads, I’d hate that

French single-carriageway roads tend not to be as wide as the N roads here - they don't have the massive hard-shoulders. Also a lot of their N roads are dual carriageway which will stay @ 110 or 90 if it's a ring road. It'll mainly be D roads affected by this change (equivalent of R here).

We're also in the process of reducing the limit on sections of N road from 100 to 80.

In fairness on sections being reduced to 80 trying to do over 80 is asking for a date with the ditch

On some of them 80 is a challenge
