It can be treated as a memory lane thread in the future when we beg for even one snowflake whilst Northern Ireland is getting buried

Snowed most of last night and up to 1600 or so today. Average around 10-12 cm; 20 cm in many places where it has blown or drifted. If the first beast hadn't happened, topped by epochal Emma snow, then we would be celebrating this. As it is, family are round the clock busy now with lambing and this short spell has caused hardship. Odd that our best snow for many years should have happened mostly in spring - it could be called a 'sprinter.' The 2010 cold spell started substantially in November. Maybe we need to rethink the seasons. At least we shouldn't be downbeat any more when early January is passing us by with nothing interesting on the horizon.0 -

Interesting to compare these images taken on different recent snow days from a similar position. One is taken on Friday morning 2nd March after storm Emma - there was another 15 cm added later that day; the other was taken this afternoon Sunday 18th March. It doesn't look it but the snow in the foreground this afternoon is 20 cm deep in places.0 -
