It has become obvious in recent times that the Feedback forum was no longer fit for purpose in the way that it operated. As a result we took the drastic action to close it for a bit and rethink how to allow users with genuine feedback make themselves heard above the din of many busy keyboards.

There was one school of thought that Feedback was no longer needed, that users can contact us via several other forums and channels when there is an issue. However, community feedback has been a unique feature of Boards since the beginning and something we'd hate to lose. Many of you have great ideas and a unique insight into the site so instead we've come up with a new strategy for users to give us their feedback and suggestions.

Feedback is back but with a few changes. We have adopted a model similar to how Help Desk is run where posts are pre-moderated. In a slight change for Feedback, new threads will also be pre-moderated at least for the time being.

Threads will not be open to a free-for-all discussion, rather it will be a direct discussion (if discussion is needed) between you and Admin but readable by other users. However if it is a topic/issue that needs further discussion, it will be opened up to the rest of the community in Open Discussions.

If you have made 100 posts and are a registered member for at least 3 months you are welcome to start new threads in the Feedback forum. You will be required to select a prefix that best describes the topic of the feedback you want to give. Some posts may turn out to be better suited to other forums, e.g. Site Development or Help Desk and will be moved. Posts from users who do not qualify with enough posts/time on site will not be approved.

All users, including those excluded by the above post and membership limitations are welcome to email any site feedback to us directly on hello@boards.ie or via the Contact Us form. If you are a new member and have a question about that, you can ask in Newbies & FAQ.

I do hope that this will be a new start for a better Feedback forum - there will still be negative feedback of course, that's expected. We're hoping that with this streamlined version of the forum, we will be able to pinpoint the nub of your feedback, identify the issue causing it and when possible, come up with and post a resolution.
