This is no orange warning event ... not even on their own 5 day forecast ... Not on the GFS and not on the Estonian site, even MTC is not mentioning any event even warranting a yellow alert

So are we now just gonna do some lazy copy pasting of what ME is predicting or can we make up our own minds and warn accordingly?

Be more constructive and at least give some data and how you think the next 2-3days will pan out.

This being the event. Not the worst by any stretch

Try to read what ME are saying. Coasts and HIGH ground most at risk. Sure enough, a look at the 950 and 975 hPa wind charts show a low-level jet of up to 160 km/hr in the west and northwest, so expect some of this to filter down to low levels in gusts.

Not unusual for the west but still something to watch.

For now I would suggest tagging this level one, model gradients are not strong enough (yet) to suggest level two especially for northwest where gusts over 110 km/hr are not uncommon. We can always go up to level two later if models upgrade the event.

Such a bizarre looking low. EC really develops an intense system rattling north-east.

Next few model runs will be interesting

Met.ie have updated the warning, orange alert now shows max gusts at 100kmh as of 10:00.
There's a nice fresh breeze here in Newport Mayo.

Totally confused by the warnings on ME, if the max gust is now reduced to 100 km how come its still an orange warning, it should be downgraded to a yellow one, yesterday they had max gusts on a yellow warning of 110 km now they are down to 85 km.

Mean wind speed of 75 in the warning. 65-80 is orange.

Its been windy all day here in Mayo and the car was blown about a bit when driving but nothing to suggest a level 2 was issued, or even a level 1.

Windy day but nothing exceptionable here near Tralee , 10 min avg 19.3 kph S, gust 48.3kph. Wouldn't expect anything much greater then these readings this evening for this location.

A pretty impressive 100 hPa difference between that low SE of Greenland & the anticyclone over France on the 12z Analysis.

Fairly strong winds in Cork City. Had to bring in the dog. Seem to be getting stronger as the night goes on. Few power cuts around as well.

    Some decent "creaks" here now.
Wind really picking up with some strong gusts(meath/cavan border)

Stronger winds today in Newport. Drove to Sligo today and got blown all over the road. Most trucks were traveling at a slower pace than normal.
Plenty of fog around Knock airport area and heavy mist mixed with very strong crosswinds made it a mission to drive in a straight line.

i think it will miss 95% of the country, far NW will get storm force winds. Met Eireann have an Orange alert for more counties.

if the track and been a couple hundreds miles closer it would have been a very nasty event

    Yet another lucky escape.

Some north-western areas will get a glancing blow

Jeez that's a wild day out there I'd nearly go so far as saying as the worst out of them all so far.
