A mild windy wet grey new years day in Castlebar. 12 degrees. strong and gusty westerly wind.

9.4C here near Tralee ( high of 13.5C )

Wind has eased to an avg of 18 kph and veered to the West ( highest gust 61 kph )

Was on Banna beach today, car got covered in sand and salt spray ( even though it was raining on and off ), Kite surfers getting some great action, soaring into the air, no pics unfortunately.

11.8mm of Rain much of it in the form of waves of drizzle and light rain.

It's the highest January temperature I've ever recorded at my local station in Bray, although it's only been running about 8 years. Previous record was 16.2C in January 2008.

Still quite windy on Kerry coast , 10 min avg 29 kph,just got a gust of 53 kph, cooling down, 7.7C, wind going more to the NW.( I see Malin had a gust of 57 kts on the 23.00 report )

Great day with plenty of sunshine with just a thin veil of cirrostratus over the land with clearer sky out to sea

Wind light from the SW ( can see on the radar the expected rain making it's way onto the SW coast )

Dry since 08.00 here near Tralee. 5.6mm in total for rain event ( 4mm after midnight ), was brighter earlier but quite overcast now and feeling cold at 5.4C in a light ENE breeze with a Rh of 94% giving a damp feel.
