I don't think I've ever seen a bottled version. Noreast is the importer, perhaps BeerBaron can tell us whether they bring bottles in.

    Cheers BeerNut, will do. This is the bottled version apparently - have only ever seen it online though :{

I think you're getting confused between two different beers. The draught one is Fischer Stiftungsbräu, a helles made by Erdinger in Germany.

Your picture is of Fischer made by Heineken in France. Different beers, different styles. I'd have thought the Abbot's and/or Bradley's would carry the French one.

Ah right.......excuse my ignorance BN. So is the 'proper' Fischer in bottles at all, I wonder?? Or could you possibly recommend something similar in bottled beer? Cheers!

:D I assume you mean the German one? As I say, I've never seen it. It's a Munich Helles and there are a few of those around. Spaten Helles you can usually get in Lidl and is very good value for what it is. Trading up, Augustiner Edelstoff is one of the best of the style around, IMO. You should be able to get that in a specialist beer off licence.

Was going ask a similar question, i.e. what class of a brew is it at all?
My suspicion is that it'd be a munich style helles (aka "export") beer seeing as Erding is only a suburb of Munch and Pils is not a bavarian mainstream taste anyhow.

If thats the case then Spaten/ Lowenbrau/ Hofbrau helles is easily got in Cork. I've seen them in Supervalue in Ballincollig anyhow! And Spaten is sometimes also in Lidl for cheap.

Abbots ale house off licence has augustiner helles which is widely considered as the best but its more expensive.

To just have a pint in a pub, the Bierhaus on the river has most of the above mentioned beers as does Abbots Ale house of course.

lol, yep, the German one!:D Ah the other one could be great for all I know, but the German one is the one for me. Cheers for all the info, will try the Abbot's and Bradley's this evening:)

Sorry, took me a few days to spot this. I'm spending a lot of time refreshing my Ulster Bank account. :D (Nothing yet)

Fischers is only available in Draught. I personally would love Fischers in bottles as well because it is my favourite beer in the whole world and I'm not just saying it because we import it. It really is a great product.

Bottles are only manufactured in returnable bottles crates and the logistical nightmare is such that we couldn't import them and they wouldn't export them anyway.

This is the product I'm referring to so people who haven't heard of it know what it looks like on a bar.

It's a Sister Product of Erdinger and manufactured on the same site as Erdinger.

You can catch up on information on

    http://www.facebook.com/ErdingerIreland

and Noreast - I just put an update on the Noreast Page about Fischers. Surprised I hadn't done this already.

Luigi Malones are selling it. Had it last week and it's delicious! Googled it hoping I'd find a seller.

Yeah, it was exclusive to Luigi's for years.
