Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is Sky broadband coming?

    May have BEEN discussed already??

Anyway Sky upgraded our communal system today. Originally they had 4xWF100 cables coming from the LNB. Now after the "upgrade" there is only 1xWF100 and a small grey cable about 2-3mm thick....cant see any markings on it!

What purpose would this have towards an LNB? Can only think possibly broadband?

Well not really. My main curiosity is the small grey cable they installed....have never seen or heard of such a cable used in a Sky install. Only thing I could think off was broadband...

    Optical LNB feed.

Someday Sky might sell Broadband in Ireland. But nothing to do with Dish installs. It's not happening till it happens, if it ever does.

Anyone know why they've never introduced their BB service over here? Never seen any reason given for them not doing it.

    They don't own an ISP.

Is that only in Ireland then, as they've been operating BB in the UK for years now?

probably find they wont make any or enough money out of it to make it worth their while

They didn't think the infrastructure was up to it over here when they set it up in the UK. I suppose that could change. Vodafone, O2, and plenty of other providers seem to think it's a viable business.

Sounds fancy! I guess the main advantage is more bandwidth per cable and therefore less cables.

On any satellite cable discussion, its always CT100/WF100/PF100 thats recommended. Is this very new?

I wonder how these fibre cables compare from a practical perspective. Signal loss, interference, etc, etc...

We just has a sky sales man call to our house selling sky & broadband.... he was unsure of an exact launch date but would be within 3 months and also follow the price structure in the UK......

Don't believe a word any of these "Sky Reps" say - they are only interested in signing you up to a Sky contract for TV only and are more than capable of bull****ting.

If Sky were to launch Broadband in Ireland they'd announce it publically.

Bullsh!te-No broadband will be launched and if it was Sky would advertise the thing like the coming of the messiah. As I have told people before-"unless you get direct correspondance from Sky about it,then don't believe a word you're told".
