    What is CSP

    Dublin Bus Community Support Programme

    As the largest public transport provider in The Greater Dublin Area, Dublin Bus plays an integral part in the various communities that make up its customer base.Over the years the company has implemented various corporate social responsibility programmes as a way of building links with different communities.Chief amongst these initiatives is The Dublin Bus Community Support Programme (CSP).

    The Dublin Bus Community Support Programme was launched in December 2003 as a way of recognising the valuable work done by local charities and voluntary groups based across the Dublin Bus service network. Ex-international footballer and Sunderland Chairman, Niall Quinn has been patron of the initiative since 2003.

    This is the 7th year of the programme and to date, over 1000 groups have received funding from Dublin Bus with many worthwhile causes in communities across Dublin being helped.

    Under the programme, Dublin Bus awards grants to these groups in the amounts of €5,000, €2,000, and €1,000. The grants are funded from long-term unclaimed change receipts.

    Under the terms of The Community Support Programme, local groups can apply under the following headings:

    * Children
    * Sport
    * People with disabilities
    * Older People
    * Environment and the local community
    * Education- alcohol, drugs, literacy, and health

    Entrants must submit a proposal with details about their organisation and the item/event etc which they wish to have funded. The application is then judged by an independent adjudicating panel. The winning entrants are invited to the awards ceremony where they receive details of their individual award.

    Any group that is located within the Dublin Bus service network- including Greystones, Kilcock and Clonee can apply for funding. Successful applicants last year included; Dublin 17 School Completion Programme, CARI (Children At Risk in Ireland), Headstrong, C.R.Y (Cardiac Risk in Youth), Pieta House, Depaul Ireland, Choices Befriending the Elderly Service, Tallaght Deaf Club and Dyspraxia Association of Ireland.

    Dublin Bus Community Support Programme On the Road Again

    First Stop – Liffey Valley Shopping Centre

    The Dublin Bus Community Support Programme Roadshow took to the road again, today Monday, 1st March when it stopped off at the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre for the launch of the 2010 Community Support Programme (CSP). The programme’s patron Chairman of Sunderland F.C. and former Irish International Footballer, Niall Quinn, joined Dublin Bus to officially launch the 2010 programme and invited local community groups in the Dublin 22 area to pick up an application form for this year’s programme.

    Now in its seventh year the Dublin Bus Community Support Programme awards grants to local charities and community groups in the Greater Dublin Area. To date over 1,000 groups and hundreds of people have benefited from the funding provided by Dublin Bus.

    Niall Quinn, who has been involved with the programme since its inception, said “It’s great to be back on the road again with the Dublin Bus Community Support Programme Roadshow. The funding that Dublin Bus provides through its CSP programme is vital to local community groups especially in the current economic climate. I want to encourage every local community group in the Greater Dublin Area to visit one of the Roadshows which will take place during the month of March, pick up a 2010 application form and get your entry into Dublin Bus”.

    Niall Quinn and Dublin Bus also provided information on the Community Support Programme – how to fill out the application form, the success of the programme to date, and most importantly how Dublin Bus can help local community groups.

    Under the terms of the programme entrants submit a proposal with details of their organisation and the project which they wish to have funded. Each application is judged independently with grants ranging from €5,000, €2,000 and €1,000. The closing date for applications is Friday, 30th April 2010.

    The Dublin Bus Community Support Programme Roadshow will be stopping off at three other shopping centres throughout Dublin during March; Thursday 11th March: Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre 8.30a.m. to 8p.m.
