The game is simple; I have chosen 48 iconic characters from film and randomlypitted them against each other and you, The Nocturnal Public, get to decide who progresses into the next round.

The first round will consist of 24 one-on-one Battles. The first iconic character to achieve 8 votes goes through to the next round.

This is primarily just for fun so I have on purpose chosen relatively well known characters from the Horror/Fantasy genre, hence the word iconic. I have predetermined all 24 Battles but if anyone wants to ensure an iconic character is not left out just drop me a PM.

What makes this a Nocturnal Thread? You may have seen this game on other boards but if specifically narrowed it to dark characters to appease the mood on the Nocturnal Forum.

So, the first battle will commence now in a matter of seconds......

Got to give it to Damien, as Regan is actually just a nice little girl possessed by a demon whereas Damo is actually the anti christ.

    What Doom said.

I remember from childhood Mass going that the Anti-Christ is going to whoop a merely posessed child. :pac:

Damien. He has the power of Satan under his control. Wheras Regan is possessed by a daemaon not as powerful as Satan with neither in full control.

3-0 so far. I'm surprised and not surprised, in regards to the former because I thought I was starting with a tough call (:pac:) and in regards to the latter because I agree with the sentiment expressed so far on Damien.

Remember, first to 8 wins it.

Damien. Especially if they have that cool devil music playing...

Is this a case of who is inherently cooler or who'd win in a fight? (either way it's still Damien for me.

Would have to be Damien. The movies didn't have to have Damien do much for him to be terrifying.

If you can read this, you're too close!

Damien Thorn goes through to Round 2 with a resounding 8-0 victory.

I'd like to stress to all those taking part to feel free to elaborate as much as you would like in giving your answer.

Could I request from a Mod that the word "Battle" is removed from the title of the thread please?

The second battle of Round 1 will be posted shortly......

Defo Freddy....as scary as Pennywise is, he hasn't got **** on Freddy Krueger!

Would have to be Freddy for me. The idea of the monster killing you as you slept was really scary to me when I first saw the films. Everyone has to sleep, so eventually you would be vulnerable to attacks from Freddy.

From what I remember of the It film, the clown wasn't all that scary to me.

If you can read this, you're too close!

On reflection, it probably would have been more scary if the Elm Street and Evil Dead hadn't got to me first.;)

    Thread title changed.

I don't know, Im going to have to think about this.

I think I will have to give it to freddy, as his power comes from the imagination of humans and that's probably the strongest power in the world.

    Also, Freddy keeps coming back!

This is one of the coolest ideas for a thread I've ever seen!

I've gotta go with Freddy for this one. Not just cos the guy damn near traumatised me as a child, but also because pennywise isn't really the evil one in that film. From what I remember the clown is actually just an anthropormphic projection (thank you Terry Pratchett :D) of the actual monster, while Freddy was the soul of a dead guy he was still a real person if you know what I mean?

Also, Pennywise was freaky, but Freddy was just downright terrifying. I mean he killed you IN YOUR DREAMS! What is scarier than that?!

Ah but all the memorable moments involved Pennywise hence why he is the iconic character.:p

And thank you for the compliment on the thread.;)

Pennywise was eventually killed by a slingshot, where Freddy can't hurt you if you aren't afraid of him. Granted Pennywise becomes considerably weaker if you don't fear him, but not as completely helpless as Freddy becomes.

I'm going to go against the grain this time and go for Pennywise, he just barely scrapes through in what turned out to be a surprisingly underwhelming battle..

Allow me to elaborate. They both lose their powers if the person they are after is not afraid. Since neither would be afraid of the other neither would be particularly powerful.

Freddy is leading comfortably, but Galvasean has given Pennywise a ray of hope.

So far it is 4-1 in favour of Freddy.

    Gotta be the Kreugmeister.
Surely scariness is measured in the amount of films you star in...
