Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would like to be able to stick in a large hard drive so i dont have to delete shows has anyone done this and got it working ?

Ive been looking online and seems simple enough im wondering will it actually give me more space for shows or just fix a broken hard drive.

Will sky be able to block my box or anything if i do this?

Any info from anyone whos done it appricated.

Best upgrade you have ever done.Sky know nothing about it and if you need to call out a Sky technician for a fault(if you are still in waranty) you simply replace the original disc.Naturally don't wreck the box while opening it.
Yes, you will have acres of extra room depending on the capacity of the new drive.I did it with my SKY+ box but with my HD box I have added on 2 external 500gb drives and have built up a small library of HD films and documentaries.Go for it.

I upgraded my Sky+ V3 after the Maxtor started acting up, and put in a (now discontinued) Samsung drive. Best move I ever made. The box has been very reliable ever since.

BrianPK: Do you have 2 external HDD's connected directly to the SkyHD box? Or do they just have a HDMI input or something?

I've run a SATA cable out of the box and I simply connect it to whichever external caddy I want to use.The caddies have their own power supply naturally.I also use the original h.drive (which I didn't bother removing at the time so as not to void the warranty) .This is extremely simple to do. No electrical experience is necessary .All I did was copy on a monkey see monkey do basis from here http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=484259&highlight=external+caddy+sky+hd Very interesting thread especially the posts from ralferoo,

Yep I popped a new 160GB Hard Drive when I first got he box and ran fine for a long time, OK it's 4 years on now and it's starting to freeze and crash a little wile recording and playback... Maybe it's just time for a new hard drive?... Anyway apart from this it was the best move I ever made.

For those of us not confident enough to try this themselves, is there anywhere in Dublin / Kildare that will do this for you?

My Sky+ box keeps freezing during playback, works for a while after a re-format but looks like the HD might have had it. Driving the missus mad especially so it has to be sorted.

Would a HD upgrade fix the issue?

Sounds like a HD prob to me. If it's under warranty ring Sky, if not, some of 'how too's' can be found on Google if needed.

Have you tried switching off the instant rewind on your Sky box? It causes all kinds of freezing issues. If you havent or arent sure then press services

    then option 5
And switch the instant rewind to off. I would also recommend giving your drive a little housekeeping and delete anything previously watched that you no longer need.....This may only help future recordings..

Do you get failed recordings also?
