Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Fair play to your daughter but I can see that is how the seed of doubt is planted :( My sister is having the same issue the last few years with her eldest (nearly 11).

I can't understand older siblings ruining it for younger siblings. There are 8 years between me and my littlest sibling - keeping quiet and letting him enjoy believing meant I got Santy until I was 19 - win win imo :D

9 just seems so young to me to be already questioning Christmas :( I actually dread the day my guys start questioning it. And the thoughts of their peers ruining it for them :(:(:(

9 :(:(:(:(:( I might only get 4 more years with ELF1 and then she will be an ELF no more!! I will have her under strict instructions not to say anything to ELF2 or 3 or no presents, from Santa or anyone else.

It really does go by so quick, it only seems like the other day was her first Christmas (she was only 3 months old- was looking at a picture of her in her '1st Christmas' outfit under the tree in my sisters house on Christmas Day. The laughs we got this year with the Elf on the shelf was brilliant, don't want that to end.....

Sorry was at a funeral earlier so feeling a bit nostalgic, sad :(

Nowt wrong with that at all. We were only saying it after Christmas when we were updating our Christmas Eve photo album looking back over all of the Christmas Eves going back to their first in 2011 & were saying we couldn't believe how fast the time had gone & that 2019 was their 9th Christmas:eek:

Its seeing our babies growing up in front of us so quickly that really saddens us in some ways, the fact we have a record showing it year on year simply reinforces how fast its all gone. It s a good reminder every now & again that you need to stop & look around every now & again as in the same time frame again they'll be 18, adults & no longer our little babies:(

Folks the Holiday Show is on in the RDS this weekend and Chinese New Year celebrations kick off... nice way to see out the final days of January.
Was lucky enough to get free admission for two adults during Black Friday. There are still a few 2 for one entries flying around.

My last one was..... mid 1980s!

Unless you count my moving to Ireland in 2002 and many house moves since then ...

As I say to my little girl when she tells me "mam, I'm not a baby anymore", it doesn't matter if they are 35 with babies of their own, they'll always be our babies :)

I always find booking the Summer holidays in January gives a little lift and something to look forward to. Booked ours last week and now the summer doesn't feel so far away.

So true. My Mum always say to me, 'You never stop worrying about them', she hasn't and we are all in our 40s!!

I understand that sentiment & my own mum has said the same to me & I'm closer to 50 than 40, but in reality as they grow & slowly lose their innocence (especially surrounding things like Christmas) its kind of sad, well it is for us anyway, we thought these years would last forever, & alas they are almost gone.

Dont get me wrong, I love seeing them grow & develop, but a part of me longs for them to be our little babies forever. Sad nostalgic fool that I am :(

We had booked our hotel before christmas when the mrs spotted a fantastic deal in a specific hotel we'd looked at previously. But booked the flights there before I came back to work on the 6th. Was great to have the holidays all sorted early & give us something to look forward to. I love the build up to my summer holiday nearly as much as the build up to Christmas :D

Well as we come to the end of January 2020 (hooray!!) how was it for you?

Did the post Christmas blues hit you hard? If so what helped to get you through it?

If they didnt, any idea what helped keep them away? Or would you not tend to get January/post christmas blues anyway?

Haven't really thought about it too much, which in itself, would lead me to think I fall into the latter camp. I guess having the whole two weeks off and the fact things have been pretty hectic since New Years, I haven't had much time to get the blues. With Feb and Spring (or last month of Winter if you're that way inclined) on the horizon, days getting longer etc I'm thinking more of the summer now then Winter/Christmas.

I don't really get them unless it's a particularly wet or dark month. The bright, sunny days and having something planned every weekend however small helped. The wait for payday was a bit tough but sure you just have to get creative with whatever's in the freezer/presses which is no harm :D

I've found this week the hardest for some reason - feel like it's dragged big time. But generally as a month, it's been grand. We've a lot on in Feb so I suspect the next month will fly by!

I have found this week a bit draggy also.

I kept busy for the month with my kitchen project. I think planning things for later in the year always helps. I also spent a good bit of time looking at holiday websites. :)

It’s funny how time is viewed. I thought this week was a super quick week!!

Been a really busy month for me. But about 3 times in the month I thought oh wow I really missed Christmas. It kinda creeped up on me. The idea it might snow made me long for time off.

Agree about January going fast, I've been out the door with work since the first day back and the weeks have zipped by, this week went in the blink of an eye and I had to work late 3 times too...
This has easily been the fastest January I can remember. No complaints mind.

What an end to January. Well I got some bug /flu this week. Been off since Tuesday. I thought I was gettting back to myself this morning and I actually got worse. No concentration for TV or reading. Please let me feel better again by tomorrow.

Previous years I know it has hit me but it was certainly brighter this year and it went by alot quicker

I have been using a salt lamp too at home that I was given as a Christmas gift
I also started the salt caves for sinus/asthma problems New Years Eve doing 3 sessions together then one a week
I didn't go hell for leather dry January I had a prosecco brunch with a pal
another weekend in January I had a tipple or two of prosecco too at home
Had a mid week meal out at our favourite Indian restaurant
In January it was our 13 year anniversary with himself
I had tickets to a comedy gig for 10th January
    Met up with a friend
Booked a trip to Liverpool with friends in March

I know it's not Christmassy, but if your getting into the salt caves, check out the ones in Romania, where i believe it's huge there. Maybe a little trip in the not so distant future for yourself, if it looks appealing!
