Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I see Cycleways have closed down on Parnell Street. Does anyone know where they have relocated to?

hmm would have thought they'd have a closing down sale in that case... I suspect they're just moving as advertised.

bit odd that they're closed this long between shutting up the old shop and moving to a new shop?
their 'bear with us' message on facebook is dated the 6th January.

there's a sign on their shutters saying they were re-opening somewhere close by, soon.

    Very vague

That was when I passed about a week ago

I worked nearby last year and dropped the bike in for a service, confirming they accept one4all vouchers. When I picked up the bike it was a manager doing the transaction and he refused the voucher saying the margins weren’t worth him taking it. No choice but to pony up €150 cash as it wasn’t a sale I could walk away from. An absolute joke.

Thankfully, one4all cancelled the card and transferred the money to my account, apologising for it.

They lost a distributorship and their head mechanic more recently, if they shutter I wouldn't be surprised.

Up the road on Bolton street is Bolton Cycles, Pawel, who is also an excellent mechanic. Same day service without booking it in.

Not sure. There's usually something eye catching though.

Am usually focused on plotting a path from the entrance to the trade counter to take any notice, but if you stop to take a look there are some mad looking machines.

They do brisk business in maintenance and repair.

I was in it at lunch and was wondering the same, but on further thought (I think) it’s west of there, closer to the Italian Quarter. Just opened this morning, plenty of unpacking being done. Smaller space than Parnell St, repairs etc to take place downstairs.

No - just a little bit up from there. Quite a bit smaller too.

Maybe I'm wrong, but they should get a lot more passing bike traffic that way you'd think, and with that more of the quick, cheap jobs that are bread and butter for shops.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,169 ✭✭✭✭ED E

They're a tad hidden as you come down the quays cycle lane by the tattoo shop, if they put a bike sign sticking out from beside the "s" there it'd be more likely to catch riders eyes on a day to day basis. That path is too busy to put a few bikes out like others do.

The new shop looks about the same size as the Original Cycleways run by Phil and Brian before they moved to the bigger shop on the corner....
