Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any idea what it might be like around Loughrea/Galway City tomorrow at roughly 1-3pm? Hoping the winds will have died down...

Looks like 12 - 1:30 will be the worst of it.

I thought it was Orange warning nationwide? no?

No, it's just for the coastal counties. I'm in the orange zone as from now. I just went outside and I definitely heard a faint rustle of leaves in the trees.
I know I should be scared but I'm brave and resilient. I'm determined to get through this.

Ryanair flight FR1349 to Shannon was in a holding pattern at Shannon and decided to divert to Cork, got far as Grenagh and made a sudden turn up to Dublin.

    Choppy flight I’d say.

I can’t tell the difference between the two forums.got a bollocking for offering the real weather heads a trampoline for sale.was throwing in a half bag of borrowed beach sand to weigh her down and all to sweeten the deal.
    Two titles are the same.

If you can gauge the speed and direction of the wind correctly you could get your trampoline delivered for nothing...................I'm not sure about the bag of sand though.;)

I wouldn't want to be out in it, but it's not too awful here, despite being south-facing onto the sea. On the other hand, I think it's still mostly south of us still? South coast of co Galway

Wind definitely picked up about a 40 mins to an hour ago here. Plenty rain with it. It will be interesting to see the highest wind readings for around here. Markree castle, outside Sligo is my nearest met Eireann recording station. Stay safe folks.

Wind is horsing along in Dublin 9. Couldn't imagine it being safe out there at all now. Seems to be worse than Ophelia was, most likely due to direction.

Why do people do this? Just because it doesn't affect you doesn't mean thousands of others aren't affected.

    Master of the Universe

A big gust actually just broke the lock on one of my windows and it flung open. (I'm up quite high in a Dublin apartment)

Luckily no huge gusts came in the time it took me to wake up suddenly, notice what was going on and on running downstairs to pull it closed. It was at a 90 degree angle to the wind so would have blown off.

Had to break out the tool kit to remove the lock and refit it while gusts kept trying to catch the window open again. Mad stuff.

Power cut here in D6. Though I've had quite a few outages in the last few weeks so may not be storm related.

Well that was a non event here in north kilkenny/ south laois. I looked out to see an empty coal bag I'd forgotten to pick up last night in the garden..... This morning it's still there. I understand forecasters for their best and weather is unpredictable at best, and some areas are/ were hit badly, but when there are warnings and nothing much materialises it just undermines the whole warning system.

No it doesn't as most folk are aware of variations
