In the movie ‘THE MAN WHO KILLED HITLER AND THEN BIGFOOT’ Calvin Barr (Sam Elliot). Opened his wardrobe door, spotted his formal us army uniform. Calvin took the uniform from the wardrobe and placed it upon his bed in a move where the viewers expected he has going to wear it. Calvin then proceeded to pick up his service medal opened it from the box and looked at it discouragingly. However, he quickly changed his mind and placed his service medal 🅠into a jar of buttons and placed the lid on the jar jurning it in his hand before placing it in the back of his his wardrobe behind boxes.

My question is: why did Calvin Barr place his service medal in a jar of buttons?

Is it a gesture that has a deep meaning, a sign or something to do with luck?
Or perhaps none of the above?

    Maybe I’m mad.

    Good movie though, very philosophical.
