Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hi Folks, have purchased a house with fireplace as seen in pics. Would like to put in an insert stove but can this be centered? will be replacing the whole lot, mantle, harth and installing an insert stove. Ideally we'd like to put in a landscape insert but not sure if this would be possible. any advise would be appreciated before going to pick out stove. Cheers

I can tell you this from experience in my own house.

Is the house a semi Detached ? If it is its probably a case the chimney breast is actually shared with your neighbour and you both have offset fires. Its a stupid practice that ruins the symmetry in the room but unfortunately can be found around Ireland.

You may not be able to centre it but you usually can fit an inset stove , landscape may not be possible as usually the width you see is almost the total width available.

May i ask what the rush is on picking it out before you take ownership ? having a stove fitted is not too bad a job and is usually only a day or two days max of work.

it is indeed a semi d, had never thought of that, must be the reason. House was built in 60's/70's so that would explain it. Any one else got any other ideas. We definitely want to go down the stove route.
