Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just watching the qualifying now. What a session. Delighted for Leclerc. That's the way to do it.
Well done Charles. I hope he wins the race if Ferrari do not fu-ck it up.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Well I’m sure the vaunted Ferrari race strategy dept will do all they can to make him not win.

Verstappen doing the exact same thing at the same corner in 2016 and 2018. Presumably he did it deliberately. I mean there's no other possible explanation.

Can anyone remember if Verstappen mucked up his gearbox in that crash?

Verstappen doesn't have the best reputation for keeping it between the walls around here so hopefully, if LeClerc gets away well, his race engineer can get him to look bigger picture and see the championship gap close to Hamilton.

Latifi was identical , on the same day as well.

Only upset that can be caused to day bar an accident is Pit stop timing . The rest is just block the track for race.

I wonder will there be any on track over takes all bar start gains off the line.

The first time no I think, second time they said all was fine but found a leak the morning of the race .

Four out of the last five Monaco GPs have featured a Safety Car intervention, and so there's an 80% probability of a Safety Car here.

That's probably the only way things get shaken up significantly, otherwise it's the start and a procession to the end!

    Gearbox is done

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

How did they get that so wrong?

    The gearbox is fcuked.

Leclerc is out. Gearbox is fooked.

    Ferrari are clowns

Looks like they took a punt on it, disaster.

That's embarrassingly bad for Ferrari taking that risk.

    Absolute shocker by Ferrari.

This is obviously to throw them off the scent.

    Afternoon all.

    Poor Leclerc :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Well he won't make the grid, from first to last - that was the gamble.

    LeClerc must be fuming.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,382 ✭✭✭lolie

Heartbreaking for Leclerc but ultimately his own fault for crashing into to the barrier.

What's happened? they stuck with the gearbox and now they have found the gearbox is fooked and they are trying to change it in time for a pitlane start? If so that's beyond stupid by Ferrari!

Devastated for Leclerc, what a massive chance to win his home GP.

  • Registered Users Posts: 340 ✭✭Zookey123

So Sainz for the win? Whose with me..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Max will be over the moon.

It has gone from does he risk a first turn dive to just having to nail the start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,026 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Bottas to dive bomb Max into turn one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,189 ✭✭✭McFly85

We’ll get to see how brave Bottas can be now.

Wow that's a shocker, guess ferrari took a punt and it backfired.

What a breath of fresh air Rosberg is, wish Sky would swap him with Croft in the commentary box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,686 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Rosberg is gas. Completely not listening to the others while eyeing himself up in the camera lens!

Leclerc out of the race, what a complete cock up!

  • Registered Users Posts: 515 ✭✭✭Lawlesz

That's a disaster. Ferrari being Ferrari. Hopefully shuts the conspiracy theorists up now, never heard as much tripe in the last 24 hours.

On another note, really enjoying the radio comms with Masi

Just came in home after a walk and turned on the build up to the race and caught the panel talking about leclerc. My post about the vaunted Ferrari strategy was meant in jest. I didn’t think they’d prove me right.

Probably looking at those golf shoes realizing how hideous they look on camera

Out completely now, but sure that makes little difference to him

Wonder if Ferrari will have the cop on to pit after lap one and stick the mediums on til the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,330 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

    Disaster for Leclerc.

Not sure if you don't know he is out or if you mean their other car, both a possibility with the current setup :pac:

Ferrari chanced their arm, and unsurprisingly given their record of decision making over the last few years, got the call completely wrong.

Should have just taken the penalty if they weren't close to 100% sure.

Surely they could have figured this out after qualifying? This is a complete shambles, cost themselves everything, a 5 place grid penalty would not have been the end of the world, now they don't even get to race, complete and utter cock up, only Ferrari are capable of this sort of shíthousery!

Ah jaysus. Thought Ferrari would mess up the pit stop or strategy but this is embarrassing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

I actually don't blame Ferrari for taking a gamble, they're not fighting for a championship but a win. If they changed the gearbox he'd be starting P6 and no chance to win. They took a chance and it didn't work, it happens

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

It's Leclerc's fault that he's out, not Ferrari's. He hit the wall. Tests didn't show any anomalies so they were right to take the punt.

"Will use Lewis to help Valterri"

Hmmm how long will that last I wonder.
