    Hi guy,

Doing a self build, direct labour. Timber frame and a plaster render finish on one half and charred timber on the other half. Getting it very hard to get under construction Insurance.

AIB quoted under construction insurance of €500+ for rebuild etc. Would that be enough cover? Or would anyone know of any company that will insure a new build that doesn’t have a block finish?…seemingly this is because of brexit since December?

    Thanks,
    Mrs MP

Try topinsure.ie I think they are based in Waterford and should be found online. I have under construction insurance with them now and found them great.

If you are not using a contractor you will need a higher level of insurance than under construction. You will need full public liability insurance which would normally be covered by the contractor.

DB is right. You need a self-build policy. Not an in the course of construction policy. The later only provides fire cover.
