First time listening to Katie Hannon - she’s really not great, seems to be “up against the clock” a lot and stumbling over her words.

The problem is it has become a socialist whinge fest. Sinn Fein. Labour, PBP, RISE, Solidarity all demanding representatives for their pet issue and then trying to elbow their topic to the head of the agenda. So poor Katie has to manage all these conflicting Trotskyist egos. Meanwhile you usually have one member of the government getting beaten up so now they only send low ranked ministers.

The show jumped the shark when Brid Smith and Roisin Shorthall shouted at Jack Chambers for 15 minutes in a shameful display of sexist bullying a few weeks ago. The whole show since then has turned into a dose of the Trots as they all line up to give some poor minister a kicking.

It isn't Katie's fault. She is quite good on the evening show when there is a more equal panel. She needs stronger producers who will stand up to the left when they all demand seats at the table and insist on it being balanced evenly with equal opposition and government representatives.

That’s how I see it too.

I would disagree that it’s not Katie’s fault, she’s very quick to pile in and throw a few kicks at the Govt. herself.

Her delivery is very staccato and hesitant.

    Not a good presenter.

I would agree on the staccato delivery... exactly like as if I were presenting a radio program myself, which is one good reason alone why I don't! However on likes of Liveline she at least listens to callers and doesn't interrupt them, so kudos there.

I think that Katie was at her best when she was reporting on Prime Time. Being in the seat answering questions suited her. She is very likeable but I don’t think anchoring a show suits her.

Think she's doing a grand job, I'm still enjoying the show

Hmmmm ..... she ain’t no ‘anchor’, but if she stopped saying ‘Nooze’ I might tolerate her.

That f*****g word should be banned from all RTE airwaves

    Hannon
    O’Connor
    All AA Doadwatch presenters
    Libreri
    Petula Martin
    Wilson now and again

All at it... where did it spring from?

Boils my piss, so it does.

It probably sprung up from the same place that made the “G” in ing become an endangered species or the “h” in words like birthday.

Have to admit it is right now, Breeener.

Now you are a fairly ‘buttoned up’ lad yourself.

Does this ‘Nooze’ business not annoy you?

Maybe it’s the lockdown has me bet into a cocked hat:confused:

Mod - Brendan & Brian, quit the rancour please. No need for it on the thread.

It annoys me less than "indicated" instead of "said" but that's a feature of the news, not Katie Hannon's programme.

All the usuals from the opposition+ Katie lined up to trot out all the usual hyperbole

As usual Katie loses control earlier than usual. 1312 today...about eight minutes in.

The usual descriptors lashed out and not challenged....chaos, shambles, etc.

    None of which are accurate.

Yes there are issues, but Katie let’s these descriptors go unchallenged.

    Very poor presentation.

Verona Murphy is an attention seeker first and foremost (see her antics to get elected in the first place)

She is great at smart remarks and cynicism

She offers no solutions. Just constant complaints.

Katie is out of her depth on today’s issues... hesitant, unsure, not in charge.

Watch the chaos on the protest issues.

Roaring and shouting about to begin.

    Gazumped by Davy.....just as well.

Dáil is full of those on the opposition benches.

    Windbags mostly.

Totally agreee. She was especially poor today. At times it was like she wasnt there at all. She can be good on other programmes today.

Sge especially let the former journo, former barrister and current solicitor Mairead Carey go on and on against insurane/personal injuries compensation reform. She was allowed get away with plenty of guff unchallenged. It was a miracle to end up being mire symathetic to the insurance industry rep after hearing the solicitor laden down with a vested interest.

Katie only interrupts the Govt. representative, everyone else gets free rein.

The fact that relaxing regulations in ‘counties with low infection gets any airtime astounds me.

How is this even discussed as a policy is beyond belief.

Did they mention the traveller funeral in Leitrim, or the big fat Galway wedding in Salthill, or the marquees, and the disdain shown by that community towards Covid rules?

  • Registered Users Posts: 19,054 ✭✭✭✭Brendan Bendar

Is that Minister on a ventilator?

The value of someone like McDowell on programmes like this is highlighted today.

The fahhkin government can’t sort out everything as McD said.

    Time someone said it.

Leitrim was mentioned twice when discussing counties with low rates (oh the irony) but no mention of that particular potential super spreader/two fingers to everyone event.
