Evolution sliding chop saw

Picked up an Evolution 12 inch sliding chop saw on Amazon today for £150. According to camelcamelcamel it's at it's lowest ever price. From my research it looks to be the best DIYer chop saw. Can't justify spending loads on a Makita etc.

It's actually from their "Pro" range. Woodies have the equivalent DIY range version for €260:eek:

I have one of these which gets used pretty much every day by my crew at work, and it's as good as others priced at double of it.

Can't remember how much it cost me (I'll look it up) but it definitely wasn't as cheap as this.

I think I'll get a second for the garage at home. Nice spot op.

It's a 10" cut not 12" . I have the 3DB version and its a good saw , I used it alot with the stone cutti g blade to cut granite paving bricks and it never missed a beat . Good machine for a diyer.

That's the one I have fantastic piece of kit. Think paid about 225 pound so that's a real bargain.

I have the Rage 3 Version which is the next step up only extra twenty quid. Have it 3 years. Hasn't Missed a beat. Great Machine.

Yeah sorry about that is 10" alright . Mine has been delivered but I'm away at the moment - can't wait to try it out.

Isn't 300mm = 12" ?

Very tempted by this. I borrowed a mitre saw, but it does have the flexibility of this, and also requires an inverter.

Are you sure it's the same model? B&Q and Screwfix often have power tools made especially for them, even the top brands, and they are usually a lower spec than the standard model. I really can't see B&Q selling this at €20 cheaper than Amazon.

Can it be used to cut iron? Is it just a matter of changing the blade? I remember Evolution advertising a chop saw that would cut everything...the ad showed it cutting nail's in a piece of 2 x 4 wood?

Anyone got the evolution track saw ?
I have the rage 3 sliding miter and it's good.
Just use a decent square to set it up .

I just picked one up from B&Q Liffey Valley this evening at that price. The only difference I can see is it is a single bevel model as opposed to the double bevel on Amazon.

You don't have to change blade for anything except stone. Cuts steel and wood with the same blade

Light gauge stuff, yes, I wouldn't go cutting RSJs. You'd probably need a better blade than the one included if you want to do any sustained metal cutting. This is just slightly better than the bog standard DIY model, certainly a decent DIY saw but not up to really heavy use.

OK, fair enough, I don't suppose your average DIYer would have much use for a double bevel anyway.
