    Hi,
Apologies if this isn't the correct forum for this but I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.
Bought and paid for jacket online (UK based site) before Christmas. Jacket was delivered, but had to be returned. The replacement arrived in January with a request for taxes and charges.

Am I correct in thinking that because it was bought and paid for prior to Brexit there are no taxes and charges due? Or can anyone point me in the right direction for information on a returns/replacement policy?
    TIA

I think you are right because of the purchase timeline - I think Conor Pope can help you - email him on pricewatch@rte.ie he's on with Ray D'Arcy most weeks and should be able to help you... Best of luck

Alas, it doesn't work like that. If the company sent you the wrong item or it was defective, you could take it up with them and insist that as it was their fault, you shouldn't be left out of pocket. But the customs charges are valid.

The only exception would be if an item is defective and you returned it for a free repair - then no customs charges would apply when the item is returned back to you.
