Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

SBC pump recall on your w211?

Hi. Has anybody had a SBC pump recall on your w211 in Ireland? These pumps were recalled world wide but apparently not extended to Ireland. I spoke to a few dealers, no one is aware of such recall. Very frustrating and confusing because this is a very expensive repair. I have a '04 e200 with the famous dash message " Service Brake! Visit workshop!"

Is the dash warning "Service Brake! Visit workshop!" in red or white?

    It's in white.

White could simply mean new pads.

Red is when things get scary, then the following applies.

The unit is programmed to give the fault code after 400,000 cycles and it is possible to remove the warning via a coding tool, but what that means about braking reliability in the future who knows.

Never heard of the recall but the US got the warranty pushed out to 12 years. Typically here we got nothing.

A good Indy will be well versed in this, and Bosch sell replacement units for a fraction of what a main dealer would charge.

It's a crazy system, and makes SBC equipped cars almost worthless as they age.

Tnx for reply. This is a very common problem with different "remedies "on the internet. Was just shocked to learn what the cost would be in worst scenario( replacing pump). Will be more than i paid for the car!

I replaced brake light switch and battery. Brake pads have enough meat on them.

I suspect i'ts the problem you've mentioned before, ie: pump ran out of cycles...

Try D&S Autos on North St, Swords.
    MB expert indies.
I know that when I had a W211 I spoke to them about the possibility of the SBC pump going. I think that we came to the conlusion that my pump had been worked in the past.Anyway I got rid of it before it became an issue for me!
