    Oh god yeah, I always cringe when Irish politicians start yapping on about the 'undocumented' Irish.

    It's embarrassing, they broke all the rules and illegally settled in a foreign country. They're illegal immigrants full stop, no special treatment should be afforded to them.

    Most illegal immigrants enter legally, via a visa, and then overstay their visit and refuse to leave then they become illegal immigrants. So not that many illegal immigrants are your stereotypical border fence jumpers sneaking into the country, so a wall is useless. Apart from the fact that they are expensive, especially considering how unnecessary they are and I think they are a symbol of a regressive and hateful society.

    FFS, you would think people have never heard of ladders, planes, tunnels, and explosives. Any wall can realitvely easily be torn down. Its not the middle ages.

    Which route exactly would you suggest this wall around the Middle East take?

    Who would build it?

    Would this wall keep their oil away from Europe too, or just people?

    Or perhaps it would be designed to keep Westerners out of the Middle East and prevent them from destroying it any more than they've already done? It'd need to be a very high wall in that case!

    I think if people are that concerned for their safety and they think building walls is the answer, they should all get their own island somewhere and build a wall around that. An island provides the added protection of being surrounded by water. Much easier and more cost efficient than building walls all over the place and the rest of the world can then continue as normal.

    Trump however is trying to pander to his voters. Many of whom are ignorant and racist. However when you actually look at it, it doesn't make much sense. Citizens from those countries haven't carried out attacks in the USA, and all the people from these countries living in the USA legally were all vetted before being given green cards/refugee status. Yet other countries such as Pakistan or Saudi Arabia who fund ISIS and essentially orchestrated 9/11 are not on the list. It has nothing to do with making America safer and everything to do with Trump consolidating his support base.

    Some of the people now barred from entry acquired green cards through risking their lives helping US interests in conflict zones, and now they are being deported back to the countries they fled from because their lives were in danger. It's absolute madness.

    For it to work in the US you'll have to:
    A. Spend a huge amount of money to build it.
    B. Spend an even larger amount of money yearly to maintain it.
    C. Employ enough people to watch and cover all 2000 miles of it.
    D. Be willing to shoot anyone trying to get past it.

    Building a wall with Mexico is completely stupid, all threats at the moment are coming from ISIS apparently. Since when did Pablo the Mexican run into a building with a bomb strapped to himself shouting "Arrriba Aribba!!!"

    In the EU it would be impossible, The UK voted to leave because they were paying "too much" and some of the Schengen states aren't even in the EU.

    Plus most of the Continental Europeans in their 40s now would remember the DDR and the wall in Germany and how completely retarded that was.
