Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Corboran reminds me of Fred Lewis on Discovery's Gold Rush. Fred should have done a few seasons with Parker and learn from the Master like Rick Ness did.

Corboran should have stuck around Bielsa and learned from the Master. Common sense would tell you that you'd never stop learning from Bielsa.

Silly season is starting early, we're after Aguero. Allegedly.

He's probably plan B if we can't get Aguero. :D

Bielsa might be lining him up to replace Alioski...

He can get in line behind Costa and Poveda.......

Aguero would need 4 months in the u23's to get up to speed before he could be considered for selection tbf

When you think about it, though, the amount of chances we create and his finishing.......

No Rodrigo in the squad, another minor injury issue.

Raphinha playing out of position to accommodate that clown Costa...hopefully he makes me eat my words but I can't see it

Jittery, and hemmed in but not conceding an early goal is very significant. We'll get a good period of play soon.

    Llorente looking great.

    Good man Dallas.

    Costa too did very well

Bamford off is a strange one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,479 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Sterling left studs in 9n raph and not even a free, not even touching the ball

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

I already thought we were getting nothing from this ref and then he produces a red, VAR really has screwed us time and again this season. For me that was a good old fashioned center half tackle but it shows how crazy the game has gone.

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 15,008 Mod ✭✭✭✭whiterebel

Thats a shocking decision. VAR shouldn’t show thinkgs like that it in slo-mo, it always looks 10 times worse.

Yep, with his work rate I don't get it. He's effectively the first defender.

An absolute joke of a decision! What was he meant to do with his foot after clearing the ball!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 5,014 Mod ✭✭✭✭GoldFour4

I’d have no issue if it looked like that in real time but slowing things down is always going to make a challenge like that look much worse.

Bamford off will be strange to watch in second half. A lot of our attack these days is based off him being a threat in the middle and hence Raphina and co getting space on the outside.

Ah lads. That is a red card all day long. He caught him at knee height. Said it straight away, no idea how he gave a yellow.

No one to blame but Cooper there

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,261 ✭✭✭Shlippery

    Poor Paddy, looked gutted.

    Second half could be....interesting

He caught his trailing leg on his shin to me. After winning the ball. Surprise surprise Jesus is back on his feet and ready to run around again after the red is shown.

    That's incredibly annoying.

Nowhere near the knee and Jesus leg was in the air.

Totally agree. If he hadn't made contact with the ball then fair enough it's a red. But he got the ball and his momentum took him into Jesus. Not sure where he was expected to go. And why was that looked at when the assault on Roberts last week was let go. Just no consistency with VAR at all.

Winning the ball irrelevant. I dont know why commentators still say it.

If you leave two feet off the ground, you are no longer in control

But his other foot is on the ground! After last week it just makes it look worse for VAR.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Ceist_Beag

What is interesting for me is that Struijk came on ahead of Koch, would have thought Koch was ahead in the pecking order but maybe he prefers to keep a left footer in there.

We have been robbed of a winnable game by Var and a crap ref. Shameful stuff.

VAR is a joke and we've been shafted loads of times. But for me, this was the right decision.

Wasn't expecting much from this game but certainly aren't now

He didn't dive with two feet off the ground. He had his left on the ground but it rose after winning the ball. Such is momentum, and unavoidable in any tackle.

Even red aside, this ref is shocking

We had 3 clear fouls on Raphinha, Roberts and Phillips right in front of the ref and he gave none of them. City have won loads of frees.

Going to be a real defensive battle now, backs against forwards!

Can’t see them holding on for 20 more minutes. Raph needs to go onto centre line....give us an out

Been coming in fairness. Holding on to the draw would be a good result. We need to get a corner or two and give the defenders a break though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,870 ✭✭✭Seathrun66

Why isn't VAR looking at that, I assumed it was automatic? It's very close.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,509 ✭✭✭Damo 2k9

Feel for Meslier there after seeing the replay, probably would have saved it only for he slipped.

If winning the ball is irrelevant then the rule should be you can only challenge if the ball is on the ground.

They did check. They’ll only show it on tv if it’s very close.

Hopefully we'll sneak another goal towards the end of the half.
