Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ricciardo talking to Sky in the pen there even commented on them not showing the 4 car battle for 7th live, "a bit of a joke". Too bloody right

What do youse think can be done to make it more exciting or competitive?

Take a wheel off the Mercedes.

Assuming they're not going to do that, as skipper said, distributing the money more fairly. I've no problem with the team winning the championship getting more prize money than the team, coming last, but the disparity is too great. And even as a Ferrari fan I think it's wrong that the Scuderia is given a wad of cash every year just for turning up. Although they'd probably be even further behind Mercedes without it.

On the track they need to do something about DRS. The initial idea was that it was to bring chasing cars closer to put them into a position where they might be able to make a pass. Now it generally means the car behind can blitz past as long as you have enough room to do so. The DRS zones on the back straight today or the one on the start/finish straight at Baku, for example, are far too long. Fair enough, keep DRS, but make sure the drivers still have some work to do when they get to the back of the car in front.

Turned that off once Crofty started asking what height do you think the drivers head is off the ground...give over lads.

Proper stinker today, Mercedes were in cruise control and never under pressure. 2019 is well over.

Hamilton and Mercedes will win wdc, without any major upset like Honda finding 200 horses, Hamilton and bottas deciding to become full time djs.. But Mercedes is doing what it is best at, dominating a sport to death, see gt1, dtm, itc and then pissing off.
    Midfield battles are nice.

Ricciardo asked about the incident at the end by Dutch TV and his response when said they accused him of dangerous driving was "F*** em all" hahah.

Tongue in cheek but was gas. Interviewer first asked about Grosjean complaining and he asked "What the f*** did I do to Grosjean? I didn't even know I was racing him".

    Classic Dani.

They did show quite a bit of it but it looked like Leclerc was about to overtake Bottas at the same time so they showed that.

Ricciardo taking a page from the Verstappen (pre 2019 apparently) manual of racing...he might have gotten away with the shenanigan with Norris, but overtaking Kimi completely out of the track was a dumb move which got the book thrown at him for both incidents.

We're never going to see full "grass and sandtraps" tracks again and for good reasons, but this shows that at least a strip of grass of about 2-3 meters width NEEDS to be at the side of straights where there is enough space. It won't cartwheel cars in the air but it'll prevent such silly "ovetrakes". And if someone still manages, then fair play to them for keeping it buried and under control (a-la-Villeneuve in Budapest 1997).

Norris is starting to make a case for himself being one of the most impressive drivers this season. Shame about the McLaren going technical again.

I think the bizarre layout of Paul Ricard makes it difficult for drivers to judge where exactly the track limits are. There were a huge number of off track excursions over the weekend. The outer rings are used for testing apparently.

It's a horrible track. Looks terrible and no punishment for getting it wrong. Retirements and mistakes are interesting and shake things up.

Is there an argument for a strip of grass then tarmac? Grass to punish minor instances of going wide, tarmac to stop large offs leading to flips, etc. Maybe that wouldn't work?

Riciardo 1st 5sec penalty is a total joke... he had to skate off to get the overtake done and then rejoins the track so he can make apex and not cut the corner. Nothing wrong with that. Poor decesion by Stewarts... let them race and reward honest difficult overtakes.... show is poor enuff at the moment that they really dont need to be discouraging drivers taking any risks.

2nd one around Kimi ... totally off track... cant do that.

Why did they did they put a chicane half way down The Mistral Straight????!!!! maybe it would be better to have (2 short?) DRS zones and let them slipsteam the lenght of it?

I'll have to watch it again but I think ricciardo went off track, came back on and norris had to go off track to avoid him. Norris then lost three places because of that move so it was a fair enough penalty. Ricciardo is known for late braking and driving his car down the inside and hoping the other car just takes evasive action to avoid a collision.
