Records of Atlantic crossings?

I hope this is the right place to track this down.

I am trying to find details or a newspaper report of a Trans-Atlantic voyage a relative took in 1890 (possibly October) from Derry to Boston which was described thus by her niece:

Lizzie was a dressmaker who emigrated to New York on a sailing ship. They were storm tossed to Greenland and did not arrive in New York for 3 months. Such was that experience that she said she would only return to Ireland if a bridge was built. She never came back.

I don't know the name of the ship. If there any sort of, for want of a better description, an annual register of all crossings and any events on the trips?

I don't know the answer to your question.

I would be inclined to start with a maritime museum. They might not know the answer either but could send you in the right direction. I suspect that this might be a Russian Doll job.

With some searching (presuming you know the full name of the passenger), you might be able to trace the ship name from here: https://www.johngrenham.com/records/passenger_urls.php?destination=Boston#passengerlists

For example, this ship stopped in Moville on the way to Boston in 1890:

That one's too early, as it arrived in Boston in May. If they left in October, and it took three months, you might want to check 1891 as well.

You can check out these sites it gives the names of passengers arriving in the US for the month you want, lot of info there, scroll down to the years and passenger list.
