Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. Hi Guys, looking to head to DKIT this year. Any advice on Dundalk Student Village? What's the on campus accommodation like and are there security on site?

I'm looking to live somewhere quiet enough but still want to get to know lots of people? Also haven't heard much about Mournview. It looks nice - just wondering has anyone any experience of it? Suggests and help very much appreciated.

Well if ur looking for somewhere quiet stay away from the student village

Hi! Hope you end up in Dundalk in September... its a great college! The student Village, as anywhere has its pros and cons. Pros being.... Great for getting to know people, Close to the college, reasonably safe. Cons being... Expensive, Living with 4 other people can be a nightmare (It only takes one), and i found the inventory to be terrible.

As for Mournview, I have never stood foot in the place. To b honest... it is generally avoided by irish students and occupied by eramus students. It not no only student accommodation.. to my knowledge it is also occupied by some families.

Mid summer the Student Union will issue the accommodation list and you should find it easy enough to find a nice house/room to rent.

    hope this helped

guys, if you're looking to get broadband, you can try Digiweb.
they give it wireless, so you dont need to install a phone line.
they will need to mount an aerial on the roof and perhaps drill a hole to get the cable in so you should check that with the landlord.

    http://www.digiweb.ie/backtoschool/
based in Dundalk as well (up beside Heinz factory)

30Mb for 30e (first 3 months) and then 45e a month after that
one thing I will say though, they have a traffic limit of 100g and it is strictly monitored. if you go over, you arent charged but slowed down to 128k. If ye wish, you can then choose to purchase extra traffic to sort ye out

  • Registered Users Posts: 39 eyssy12

do you have that deal aswell? do they have a connection charge? Might consider this, seems a good enough plan.

Im starting a course in DKIT in January and i have been searching online for 1 bedroom apartments near the I.T without an luck.
there is very little info on the on campus accommodation.
All I need is a 1 bedroom apartment with an en-suite an wifi?
anybody know of anything around? I have a car so if its a little away from the I.T it doesnt matter.
    Thanks

Any advice or anything I'd appreciate :)

Jaysus it's tough trying to find accommodation as a new first year. They released a list but all of the places I've called are gone already. Don't think I'd even find an ensuite at this stage. Devastated :(

I'm actually moving to Dundalk because my sister lives there so want to be near to her but going to college in Drogheda doing hairdressing. Then primary school teaching after that. Yourself?

Would anyone on this be interested in house sharing? I'm heading up on the 23rd to view a few places then.

Obviously the cheaper the better myself but I pay 375 monthly where I am at the moment. If I was paying around 75-85 a week that's probably what I'd expect. Best of luck in finding something, if nothing comes up keep me in mind because I'll be up there the weekend coming.

Myself and 3 of my mates are having an awful time trying to find decent house. Looks like the campus apartments are our only option and they're a complete rip off for what they are.

Budget would be €70-80 or so per week. Oh really? Where was the house? We're 3rd years in the Health & Physical Activity course.

Yeah, that's a bit of a pain in the arse alright. We can't really afford to be fussy at this stage though 'cus we really don't wanna end up in the apartments..
