Jose De Sousa v Devon Petersen
    (8) James Wade v Mervyn King
    Adrian Lewis v Chris Dobey

    (4) Michael Smith v Dimitri Van den Bergh

    *************
    (2) Peter Wright v Ryan Joyce
    Dave Chisnall v Glen Durrant
    (7) Daryl Gurney v Joe Cullen
    Jonny Clayton v Ian White

    (3) Gerwyn Price v Jermaine Wattimena
    Brendan Dolan v Kim Huybrechts
    (6) Nathan Aspinall v Gabriel Clemens
    Jamie Hughes v Stephen Bunting

    Gamblage
Out of form MVG still goes off fav, but 4/1 (Boyles) is the sort of price that would have been unthinkable until recently.

    4/1 MVG.
    5/1 Price, Wight.
    12s bar.

Mad stuff. Replaced by Whitlock and De Zwaan.

De Zwaan has been truly awful lately too.

He probably; he did also went up to the match officials after the game and tried to shake hands with them were they told him they couldn't

Standard in Suljovic and Divingboard game was very poor. The double in/out makes it exciting as anything can happen

Can’t see Wade winning anything of note ever again

Can’t see Wade winning anything of note ever again

MVG is a machine when his head is down, Raj had him beaten atm but just couldn't finish off

    Still not over though

in terms of averages that game was insane . MVG showing flashes that he's on his way back

Wow cheezy really put it on duzzar, what a performance, with the format I had durrant down as a favourite to win the whole thing but he goes out 2 zip

Tell me again how durrant is one of the best in the world ??

    he hit a single 140
    won a single leg

yet another failing in a ranking tv comp

With a double start, he doubling is the best part of his game but that was pants, reverting to double 19 to get going

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,563 ✭✭✭✭peteeeed

Wowee Wright out now 2 zip to Ryan Joyce

    Some crazy results

    Always in this tournament

Jamie Hughes is painfully slow, it's like watching Pipe throw. Surprised this is the last match, not the most exciting of line ups

I don't think best of 3 sets is particularly fair in the last 32 of a 'major'.
It can be game over with a leg score of 6-4 against you. Even in the UK Open (traditionally the one for shocks), its best of 19 legs at the last 64 stage.
The 'upsets' are fun, but you wouldn't really bat an eyelid at a lot of these results if they were in a best of 11 leg game on the pro-tour.

Best of 5 sets would be better, or even best of 4 sets with a single leg tiebreaker if 2-2 in sets.

Dmitri in a spot of bother here, messed up some straight forward 2 darters and allowed Van Duijvenbode to nick a few legs to go 2-0 up. Credit to Duijvenbode whos been solid on his doubles

Devon Peterson plays a star in the first set, missed d16 and d8 to win it on MvG's throw then whaddya know MvG swoops in and nicks in. Just like the MvG of old, able to apply the pressure just when needed
Peterson went to crap then, easy win in the end for MvG

Chisnall still a decent price . Don't think he'll win it but worth an each way punt with his draw

UK Open also runs across a lot more boards than the single board here, so they can dedicate more time to a single match while keeping the overall tournament length down.

Joyce's missed darts to win the match destroyed him going into this deciding set

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭Justin Credible Darts

was a choke job....7 match darts on the trot and missed them all.

the fell apart in the last set...

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,574 ✭✭✭Deeper Blue

That was shocking from Joyce, 7 match darts to get to a very winnable QF.

On an unrelated note, that shirt does absolutely nothing for Part

Joyce let me down last night 2-0 up and match darts!! Cullen made me sweat on another bet, were he was 2-0 up and nearly blew it.
3 hot favourites tonight in Anderson,MVG,Price and a warm fav in Chisnall, not as clear cut for me tonight, and see at least two possible upsets.
