Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Whatever with pandemic puppies and walking etc - there is absolutely no excuse to what is happening in town.

The town is covered in dog poop. Epic center of this absolute poop pandemic seems to the playground and ramparts. There's literally poop everywhere. Considering that is where you see most toddlers are brought to feed the birds and to get a bit of fresh air - the state of the place is absolutely horrendous. The poop trail seems to be extending to every part of the town but it's "watch your every step" all the way to Oldbridge - and all the way to the viaduct / train station car park on Marsh road. Worryingly some of that looks like it could be from two-legged animals.

Is there a dog litter watch / warden type person(s) in Drogheda? Are they doing anything to catch these owners in the act and to fine them? Could be a nice revenue stream for the CC.

It's a ****ty situation to say the least!!

There's probably one animal warden for the whole county who probably has bigger problems than dog poo to deal with.

Litter wardens can also deal with it but unless they witness the offence there is little they can do. Even if they do witness it, they still have to rely on the honesty of the owner to have any chance of issuing a ticket.

Parts of the UK are now offering £50 rewards for video evidence of owners not picking up.

Last week the County Council said it was too expensive to bother lifting a finger. So frustrating. It is unseemly, unsafe and a disgusting problem for wheelchair & pram users to have to deal with. https://droghedalife.com/news/pio-angered-by-councils-attitude-to-dog-poo-problem

Dublin is just as bad, estimated 500,000 dogs in Ireland, maybe more. Everyone got a dog in the last two years, fashion item for some and not responsible dog owners.!! Dog poo everywhere on footpaths, full of bad bacteria, not good for the children that play in Greens and on streets.!!

Dog **** on the grass/path is one thing, it's temporary. But the people who pick it up AND THEN throw the bags in the ditch, hedge, etc near the park entrance are an absolute disgrace. God help anyone I catch doing it.

The bins around the park and near by are all now sporting some new dog poo stickers because the people who already use them need reminding

Okay, the idea of DNA testing dog poop to identify the owners is a bit.. special. No wonder that got shot down.

However, could they not at least run a social media campaign calling for video evidence etc like Scotty mentioned earlier in the thread?! Naming and shaming etc. "Can not do anything" is never an acceptable answer to anything!!

I half heard something bonkers on the radio this morning about county councils not being able use cctv to prosecute people. I didn't catch it all so won't repeat it but struck me as the usual someone misunderstanding the gdpr rules.
