    Hi guys,

Had a search and didin't find this was covered in the forum. I recently got back into cycling (just a hybrid but hey every km helps) and was looking at replacing my old Abus helmet - it was getting a little worn and long in the tooth.

Seems like during my years away new helmet tech has been introduced: MIPS, Wavecel, Kyodoro etc. - well I'm not looking to spend huge amounts on cycling gear as I'm just doing it for travel purposes currently.

Found out that Virginia Tech does independent testing of helmets in terms of safety (working in collaboration with the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) and while last year the super pricey (for me!) Bontrager Wavecel helmet came first this year the much more reasonably priced Lazer Cyclone MIPS helmet topped the list.

Ironically Lazer has discontinued this helmet line :pac: - they're probably regretting that now!

I did find this store that had it in stock and on sale too (I guess they didn't hear about the top rating for the helmet):

The full list of Virigina Tech rankings:

News coverage of the hi-tech Wavecel being beaten by a lowly EPS+MIPS helmet:

Hope that's useful for anyone in the market for a new safety-priority helmet (over aerodynamics :D )
