1. Predict the IMT, an average of five selected stations, which has averaged 6.9 C for the 30-yr period 1981 to 2010.

2. Predict the highest daily maximum at any reporting (met.ie) station.

3. Predict the lowest daily minimum at any reporting (met.ie) station.

4. Predict the monthly precip as a percentage of normal (for 11 reporting stations in met.ie Monthly Summary)

5. Predict the monthly sunshine as a percentage of normal (for 6 reporting stations in met.ie Monthly Summary)

6. Bonus (two parts) -- Predict the maximum temperature at Phoenix Park as reported on the met.ie website for the 17th, and predict the rainfall (or liquid equivalent if it snows) in mm also for the 17th. If you think it might snow, go with 10 cm snow reducing to 10 mm equivalent, etc.

or you can enter directly on this thread, make sure you answer both parts of the bonus, each one is going to be scored out of 5 and if anyone gets a 5 on both they will earn 2 super bonus points, a 5 and 4 either way pays 1 super bonus point.

Deadlines are also the usual, penalties begin at 0300h on (Sunday) the 2nd and after that it's 5 pts for each half-day late, so you'll be looking at a 10 pt deduction for example if you enter Monday 1501h to Tuesday 0300h, etc.

Done, if you're new to the contest, welcome, please note that the IMT is the mean of daily max and min and not an average high for those locations. Any forecast submitted can be changed up to the deadline, without penalty. I take the last entry you make as your official entry.

Scoring for February will have to wait for Monday, but I may be able to provide a provisional score as most of the data will be available at least within a percentage or two.

I checked the other stations and Markree was marginally colder at --2.8 C, which will still be grand, I assume.

Have added the latecomers to the table, good luck -- February and winter seasonal scores are available in the February thread.
