Covid Test Results

    Hi,
    Our little girl's pre-school have sent out a message saying that "they must be informed directly of the covid test outcome (with a screenshot or test result report)"

    Is this normal? Can a school request and hold this type of medical information? Any reference information would be great?

    Look at it from the schools perspective.

    There are huge delays in public health contacting schools with regards to a case or cases in their school. Guessing the school are being proactive in trying to deal with positive cases and their possible impact on others in the class(es).

    I'm aware of a school yeaterday where there was a positive case known about since last Thursday but public health still hadn't contacted the school by yesterday morning. Class and teacher lined up outside yesterday and the poor principal didn't know what to do.

    yes they can ask for it the same way they can ask for the all clear from a doctor in relation to vomiting bugs or winter colds. Thy have a duty of care aswell to every other child and family in the setting aswell as their staff to protect them from Covid19. You can bet theres parents out there who's child would test positive and have no hesitation in sending the child in if they didnt have to prove it

    There’s literally a line in the text message that says “the test did not detect Covid-19”- at the start of the message it gives the name and date of birth. It’s not exactly full of personal information. I don’t see how anyone could possibly have an issue with providing that screenshot tbh

    you should be happy
    as if another child gets it you will be able to take precautions as few children show symptoms
