Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Thunder is getting louder in north Kilkenny. Hopefully it comes directly over us. Very narrow shower band.

Plenty of altocumulus up the Irish sea off the Dublin coast. Think I'll stick a beer in the fridge in case things kick off

Thunder and lightning a plenty in Wexford

Constant distant thunder heard from here in South Laois. Sky black to my SE. Notably breezy

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,752 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Power outages increasing in the areas with the thunderstorms according to PowerCheck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,474 ✭✭✭✭road_high

That rolled in very quickly from Wexford. Lights flickering now in Kilkenny. Neighboring counties watch out

Can’t be too far off as it’s rolling here in Kilkenny for the past hour but not that intense yet. The main activity seems a little further east along the Barrow valley

Storm as it was rolling into Kilmore Quay

Any more due to roll in across South Kilkenny/Wexford or Waterford?
Seemed to pass very fast off up to Carlow and laois. Hoping to see some more but hard to tell if anything else is coming from the Celtic sea.

I can see the thunder clouds east of me from the city but it looks too far away to affect us here at the moment.

Spectacular convection overhead and to my south and south west, in North Kildare. Was almost clear skies 15 minutes ago. Towers galore.

The altocumulus up the Irish see is starting to tower as well. And it's getting hazier and somewhat sultry now

Yup that's the incoming that affected kilkenny, it's taking the exact same route from the exact same place as those storms a few months ago

Nice few flashes between portlaoise and Monasterevin and torrential rain ..the loudest thunder I have heard in a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,474 ✭✭✭✭road_high

Rain starting to get heavier in Kilkenny. Few flashes too

Shame, all staying inland, still a very nice 19.8c despite it being quite cloudy now.

looks new storms developing east Wexford ....

Theres plenty evidence still of instability (acc and cb) here near Arklow to the east and west, so don't rule it out
It's a beautiful day too albeit mostly cloudy down here now

There were lots of lightning strikes here in New ross a few hours ago the two houses next to us got hit and while the fire brigade were here they had 4 more calls to attend to locally, scary stuff

Looking east over the Irish sea and it's convecting away nicely

Lovely here in Limerick. Just serviced the car..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 310 ✭✭BlackandGreen

Most of it skirted up the Barrow but we still got a nice show in South Kilkenny.

Unfortunately by the time I got out most of it had passed north to Carlow.

The tail end of the storm brought warm but fresh breezes. Lots of mist and rain. It was lovely.

No lightning in these but the gentle thunder going through the valleys was lovely.

    Spooked the pheasants :D

North Wexford/South Wicklow is looking interesting. An area of precipitation has developed rapidly, both in intensity and in size, in the past 30 minutes.

Probably won't develop into anything but one to keep an eye on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,752 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Lots of power outages still in the south east from the lightning.

Looks like some mammatus sneaked in a few moments ago in Dublin.
