Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Information on Reticle Dimensions

    Can some help and or clarify on the following two queries.

    Using Schmidt and Bender recticles and manual as source material - in particular the A8 reticle of a 6x42

    Part 1:
    1. Do I read figures in column '8' on the table as referring to A8 reticle.
    2. What are the two sets of numbers in each box (they don't seem to equate to inchs versus centimeters).
    3. All values are for a range of 100 yards?


    Part 2:
    If all values are for a range of 100 yards is there a formula for other ranges ie 200 and 300 yards.

    Page 32, at least it's in English. The second set of figures are in cms and they would equate as it's not also in yards. Its x amount of cms at 100 meters which is 109.36 yards.

    Example above: 50.5 inches divided by 100 and multiplied by 109.36 (100 meters) = 55.22 inches, which equals 140.3cm.

    As regards a formula it just multiplies out: 50.5 inches at 100 equals 126.25 at 250.

    Thanks for that, brilliant. I have a few online manuals but haven't seen this one before.

    ....... got it now, I was just converting one unit for another and not allowing for inches/ yards compared to centimeters/ metres.

    It's a strange way to layout a reticle to my mind being honest. There's varying levels of convenience to working in metric or imperial.

    Basically you've got approximately +/-18" at 100yards between the posts.
    It might be easy enough to think of this one in feet. In which case you've got +/-1.5' per 100yards.

    The reticle lines themselves then are clearly easier to use if you're in Imperial.
    The fine lines are 0.5" per 100 yards, and the posts are +/-2.5" per 100 yards.
