    189 visa question.

I am a mechanic though I am currently not working as one (left the job in June 2018) I have 8 years experience and I am qualified .. should this be a problem?

If I use this field to get a visa will I technically have to work as a mechanic in Australia? I don’t mind if I have to although I currently have a different job which isn’t on the skills list and I enjoy it.

Any other options of getting to oz? I used my working holiday visa in 2012.

    Thanks

Once you qualify and are granted you can work at whatever you want on a 189 visa, except jobs like defence etc which require citizenship.

Will I need to be currently working in that field of work to apply though?

That's will depend on the particular skills assessment for your occupation. They may require that you have worked in that field for a certain amount of time in the previous few years.
