Ancient history - Alf2 system at Trinity (TCD)

    I remember when I was studying in Trinity in the late 90s that there was a Unix system we could log on to called Alf2. It allowed us (amongst other things) to host a website, that could be accessed within the college network.


    Just curious... what was this Alf2 system? Who/what was behind it? Where did it come from, and what became of it? How did it work? Anything special about it? I (still) don't have much networking/Unix expertise, but just curious if anyone has any personal stories about this system.
