Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

On my image, CacheFlush is in the Plugins.

Why look to do a daily reboot ? If you feel the need, you need a new image TBH. Use CacheFlush or a swap file (setup in HDD Manager on my Image too).

If you're still hellbent on going the Cron route, use this
    * 4 * * * /usr/init.d/reboot

Many people take images like mine below, flash them onto the box using the instructions in post #2 of this thread and then leave them alone, to work away in the backround. I understand the views of others saying to stay away from the Beta OpenATV but I can't find much wrong with it to be honest. The only feature I can find so far that won't work is HDMI-CEC.

Thanks man I will give that a try, Previous images I tried needed to be rebooted every day or so to keep it running smooth. I will try this one without and see how it goes.

    Cheers

Using Champs image now, all looks good so far Saorview seems to be stable, although it was late when I got it set up so I will give it a proper test later.

I am having a problem with CrossEPG, I had the same problem with the new version of CrossEPG on the Hyperion image. After a reboot the EPG doesn't reload, Has anyone else come across this? is there a way to use the old version on OpenATV?

I had it set to HDD, But I just checked the EPG settings in Webif and it was set to internal. I also noticed the Hard Drive was set to go into stand by after 5min so maybe this caused it.

I changed the EPG back to HDD (In Webif) and did a reboot but it still not loading, I will try and force a reload when I get home.

Below is a link to my Openatv 4.2 BETA Backup Image - for the Amiko Alien2 and other ST7162 Based Boxes.

This image is working with the following:
    Alternative Softcam Manager
    AutoTimer-similar to series link
    AutoVolumeAdjustment
AutoBoquets 20/10/13 (Will run nightly @ 3am - works in less than 60 seconds)
BlueHD 3.1 skin - Similar to the Sky EPG
CacheFlush - Keeps your box running smooth
    CrossEPG 0.8.1 - Updates nightly at 4am.
HDD mount manager - Hdd auto mount enabled and 512mb swapfile enabled
    IMDB Search
Ondemand - Includes rte player, 3player, tunein radio and shoutcast.
    OpenWebIf
    OSCam v9550
    - with blank sample readers
PermanentTimeShift - Pause, rewind live tv.
    Rats Picons + Soarview Picons

Stream / Record a $ Channels while watching another $ channel

The image is setup to use DHCP automatically and is also set for using HDMI at 720p.

Terrestrial channels may need to be rescanned depending on your geographical location.

OSCam - - Username "root", Password "oscam"
    OpenWebIf - (Default Port 80)
    DreamBoxEdit paths - /etc/enigma2/

This software is in beta so expect a few bugs but on the whole it is quite smooth. Software updates are coming almost daily so check for updates regularly. (Menu - Setup - Software Management - Software Update)

    Enjoy

Hi, quick question on this. I have OpenATV 4.1 loaded at the moment, will a software upgrade through the menu on the box upgrade me to 4.2? Or will I have to install using the download link? Cheers!

You need to start afresh. Software Upgrade only rolls up the 4.1 items that need upgrading.

Anyone else getting sky living hd as channel number 104 instead of channel 4 hd?
Channel 4 has moved to 227 for some reason.
I'm using hyperion 4, autobouquets and crossepg.

You do not set epg in webif, you set it to the hdd in CrossEPG. You have it saving to local flash, therefore it will be gone after a reboot. It will also cause the box to lag

I just tried championc's 4.2 image tonight and was rather confused about bouquets. I may have just got messed up, as I had to rescan the terrestrial channels, and ended up running the auto-bouquets plugin too. The way the channels were presented just seemed different to my previous hyperion4, they just seemed all together in one block. I also had 2 green screen crashes, moving around doing things in the menus. I note some people commenting the swap file might need enabling? My external HDD was accessible with the existing recordings playable.

Anyhow under time pressure to leave the system usable I had to revert back to my backup, but I will try again in a few days.

    Ix.

Champions said he hasn't scanned bouquets in his image at all so you'll just see favourites until you set and run Autobouquets

I set it up in CrossEPG last night after removing it and re-installing it, I also checked the config file to confirm but its still the same. I notice the lag alright until I reload it.

I re-uploaded the image once someone said the AB wasn't working. So the image is now scanned with both Terrestrial (Three Rock) and Satellite 28.2e

Hey, I took a copy of your image and all seems to be ok bar the fact it seems that every second channel doesn't appear up, I'm running one line in from the satellite as I've to run another one and setup saorview over the weekend. For example, RTE 1 doesnt work, RTE 2 does, TV3 doesnt work, 3e does etc

Do you normally use Three Rock from Maynooth ? The image is pre-scanned with Three Rock. If you normally use another transmitter, you'll need to re-scan the terrestrial (which might not be a bad idea anyway)

again, similar issue, only al terrestrial except rte1 and rte1+1 are working for me,

did a manual rescan and deleted on scan, pulling my signal from mullaghanish so the frequency is the same as three rock

can that be done through enigma or do i need to remove and format?

Press the play button to show the list of your TV recordings, press the few dots to go up a level then go into the crossepg folder and delete all files using the red button. When done press the few dots again to go up a level and go back to the movie folder to your where your recordings are and exit. Then run the crossepg downloader plugin to pull down a fresh database, takes 3-5mins

sorry, it's a different error.drive isn't initialised, that's the issue. i formatted it in sparc to ext3, but when i try to initialise it in enigma i get a mounting error, saying it may be because the partition takes the whole drive. any ideas?

    apologies for the newbie questions

If I download an ipk file online and then ftp it to my AA2 box, how do I actually run it?
For example, I'm running OpenATV 4.1 and downloaded the OpenStore ipk, then ftp'd to the tmp folder on the box. What do I do to run it?

    Thanks!

Okay fixed the egg issue. User error

Definitely something up with the champion image I downloaded though..sat channels work fine. Rtenl channels messed up though. Rte one doesn't work at all and causes the box to stutter big time. Others work but stutter. All rtenl were working okay before I installed the image. Any ideas? Multiple rescans tried

Yeh Three Rock transmitter is the main Maynooth mast afaik, problem is running off Satellite, not terrestrial

I think there may be a little confusion here as Champ is asking if you are receiving from Three Rock transmitter ( which I thought was only terrestial )
But you are indicating that you have not set up the terrestial yet not till the weekend

I know that the Alien 2 can support both Saorview and FTA Sat, but I wonder can it also support analogue TV, in particular UPC's Analogue TV service?

    If yes, then:

    - Can you use UPC Analogue, Saorview and FTA sat at the same time?
    - Can the UPC Analogue be on the same EPG as the others?
    - Can you record, etc. the UPC Analogue service?

    Thanks for any help.

No it wont support UPC analogue as it isnt a digital signal .
The Alien 2 has one DVB-T/C tuner so it can decode either a digital (Mpeg) terrestrial or cable signal ,i.e Saorview or UPC Digital ,but not both.

I don't see why it shouldn't as long as it's not encrypted, it supports cable as it's got a standard dvb-t tuner that supports mpeg4 which is backward compatible with mpeg2. It'll not support Saorview and another frequency on the tuner at the same time, the same reason you cannot record from both Saorview muxes at the same time.

Edit, corrected above, disregard the first bit

Just installed Fresh Pots new Openatv Beta image, all seems to be working fine apart from web access.

I have it connected to the internet via homeplugs, its capable of downloading and using RTE player etc but I cannot access it via the boxes IP address - I just get a *ip* is not available through a browser but it does ping via command prompt and succeed - any ideas?

Yep, found out the issue was even stupider than that! In trying to find out what IP the box was being assigned I checked my routers active sessions but it was only showing the Wi-Fi ones although the box is connected via ethernet so I was attempting to connect to the wrong IP - thanks anyways though!

Seems to be a problem with lots of skins on openatv 4.2. Only one that I can get to work smoothly is the default metrix one. Running this image with a USB 3.0 hard drive seems to improve it though. Fixes the slowness on saorview.

That seems odd as the usb ports on the receiver are USB 2.0 .
Maybe the newer revisions are 3.0 ??

No, my box is at least 2 years old at this stage. A few people have said it in the past about the usb3.0 hdds working better. Don't know what it is, they just work better.

After installing Fresh Pots OpenATV image, all is working perfectly bar CrossEPG.

When I installed the image, I had a flash disk in it formatted to FAT32 in order to have it work with spark - once I booted I realised that Permanent timeshift required a drive formatted to EXT2/3

I formatted the drive to EXT3, and permanent timeshift/recording works perfectly - but CrossEPG is intermittent.

Yesterday, I could not get it to work until I temporarly switched the storage from usb to internal and toggled it back - which it then downloaded the EPG, but since the update last night channel information has gone missing?

Is there an issue with the format my USB key is in or what's the resolution?

    cheers,

    Kev

Haven't had any problems with it myself other than when I try and download the schedule manually. It then seems to stick some times but I think that was more down to the bluehd skin hogging all the memory. I went back to the default metrix skin nd that seems to have fixed things.
Have you definitely got it to update during the night? And have you got it set to force epg reload on boot?

For anyone switching I hope I'll save you some time by telling you to go into the hdd manager and making sure swap is set up. As the swap location is different it needs a swap file created. Otherwise it runs with flash swap and crashes when trying to do a crossepg download. I also had an issue with the time shift plugin, where it was disabled and yet it continued to write to the disk, so I had to remove that.

In the course of setting up the image I updated the software and then found that openwebinf was causing a reboot loop. So I removed that plugin manually by moving the extension folder aside. I went to see if I could reinstall the plugin but could not find it anywhere via the download options. I did find the webinterface extension and that installed but it's not configurable anywhere and when I look at it it looks like it partially links back to the nonexistent openwebinf.

You'll note that I am interchangeably using plugin/extension, as I'm confused about whether there's a difference, especially as there are multiple places to configure the same thing...

    Ix

Am using Fresh Pots Hv4 for a number of months happily.
Last night I upgraded TSMedia to 7.8 from 7.5 and none of the links work anymore, they fail with "Unable to get stream link"
I uninstalled it from the plugins and tried to reinstall 7.5 but 7.8 is the only version available.

    - Anyone know how to downgrade TS media back to 7.5?

    - Also, would people suggest moving from Hv4 to freshpots new openATV image or is it worth the hassle seeing as Hv4 is working well for me ?

Have you a backup made? Quick reflash and you're sorted!

I'm also using FP's HV4 and think it's great. I flashed the open ATV image and didn't like it at all. Went straight back to HV4, it does all I need in relation to channel viewing, I'm not bothered about anything else after that.

+1 on that. I've tried several peoples ATV images and my own builds but find ATV slow, clunky and very unstable still. After many hours of frustration with it I invariably return to my own build of Hyp4 which does pretty much all I want with 99% reliability.

okay, over hte weekend i got the box pretty much set up to my liking, only issue remains that rte1 is completely unwatchable . freezes/stutters constantly. no matter what the skin. everything else works fine now though, epg sorted, streaming over webif, all good.

just a question on the previous few posts, what is the difference between ATV and hyperion, are they both just e2 images?

I have backups taken, but anytime Ive tried to apply my own backup in the past I've had issues.
I found a 7.5 version of TSMedia here if anyone else gets affected, I uploaded it to /tmp and installed it from PKteam Blue Panel. All is working again.

Thx for the heads up on OpenATV, I am happy with Hv4 so dont want to go down the route of putting buggy s/w on the box.
