Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Was helping with clearance of a near derelict house.

There is a grandfather clock, while looking a bit worse for wear its still what was obviously a fine looking clock, Shaw of Banbridge is on the dial, which is a painted dial, although some rust spots..

Case is intact but bit wobbly, possibly mahogany..

Is this sort of thing valuable at all ??

Oh I'd imagine it is B, but tbh I'd have no idea how valuable. It would be well worth saving from the skip that's for sure.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

The name on the dial isn't necessarily the maker, it could be the retailer and the clock itself may have been made abroad with the name added. This is true particularly of lesser mechanisms and dials. Yours looks like it's painted rather than enamelled. There's a list of Irish clock makers, a book that was published, if I remember right, by the National Museum. I had a copy once but it's long gone, very rare.

    Thanks.
It will escape the skip anyway.

Maybe in time get a better look at the maker.
