Played it a few weeks back and the course is in good nick. Beware of the mega quick greens, you’ll hardly ever get a flat putt. You'll be off the whites, I've found position is key here. Off the whites is a totally different ball game than the yellows.

In The Times today they said that Hollywood lakes are offering green fees from €5 (at certain times of the day) for two upcoming Wednesday’s, one at the end of May and one in June. The clubhouse appears new and is lovely, a lot of money spent there.

Course is in great nick, except for 1st fairway which has recently been strip-drained & sanded.
They are hosting the regional Pierce Purcell playoffs this Sat & Sun.
Great view from the balcony over the 18th green - you can see all the way to Bray.

Got myself a nice deal for a fourball next Wednesday.

Still some €5 green fees available between 8am and 9am-

Won Pierce Purcell – Metropolitan area section today on home patch.
Came 1st in qualification on Sat with 340 total.
    Beat Donabate 3-2 in semi
    Beat Carton House in final

Well done Billy, goes to show local knowledge makes a big difference, my club qualified the year we hosted it as well, seems common enough

    Agree there.
Hollywood Lakes major defence would be its greens which are fast and slopy, so knowing to stay downside of the pin is critical.
However, on Sat, the best 2 scores were posted by visiting clubs.
The semi-final match against Donabate was a great, close match too. We won 2 & lost 1 with 2 matches halved after 18. Donabate won 1st game on 2nd hole to draw level at 2-2 and we won last game on 1st hole for the match.
Not sure how it played out against Carton House in final.
