International Video Game Cup 2014

Palais des Festivals et des congrès de Cannes – February 28th to March 2nd 2014
The Event

The Palais des Festivals et des congrès de Cannes is a place famous for a lot of reasons: movies, television, music, board games, but for a lot of us it’s just the place where we get to spend a few days with those friends we only get to see there. A place we’re all happy to come back to because we get to play with the best video game players on the planet under the sun of the croisette.
The WorldGameCup filled a void when it was created in 2004, year after year it created a tradition that got players from the world over to gather around the same passion.
The International Video Game Cup (IVGC) wants to continue to feed that beautiful idea, an event where the champions get to see who’s the best and their fans can enjoy the show at the venue or from the comfort of their own homes.

This first CVGC will be split in two areas:

- The FGC Arena where old time fans will get to enjoy some of the best fighting games of this generation:

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition v.2012 - singles & 3v3
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - singles & 3v3
The King Of Fighters XIII - singles & 2v2
SoulCalibur V - singles & 3v3

Registration

Our partner Gametoo.fr opened registration, you can register right now for the various tournaments, but do it before February 15 2014, the last registration day.

ATTENTION: Registration won’t be available at the venue.

To unwind between two big matches, many mini-tournaments will be available to (re)discover some of the treasures of the fighting games’ history.

- Registration will only be available at the venue (with a very limited number of spots!!!).

It's being discussed right now, but it looks like the 5v5 events will only be quick exhibitions this year. We're still moving stuff around on the stream schedules to find space for them really ^^.

Also Kuram, thank you as usual, can I ask why there's no BBCP or even Persona 4 Arena events going on?

For BBCP (a game only available on PS3), the answer is logical really: the WGC had a deal with Microsoft and we'd like to get one for the IVGC.

As for Persona, we will most likely have an exhibition on the second stream (The Gwak Live Show one): both Asenka & Mr. Quarate love the game, but I can't guarantee anything more...

If you want something competitive & Arcys-y, think about going to Liege this year ^^.

I'm registered for AE singles currently. Took about five minutes in total.

People keep asking me "HOW MUCH WILL THIS COST?"

I have no idea what to tell them. Anyone care to post an informed guess / estimate?

Flights and accommodation should be no more than 230* combined. Then you just need entry fees and spending money.

*That's with checked luggage and travel insurance.

This is confusing, on their website it redirects you to other link.
also your name is not on the registered players list...
and also theres only about 10 people registered which is hard to believe since the registration closes in about 20 days and theres no reg at the venue.

What's the craic with the 3v3? Just need to know before registering who people are thinking is best to rep for us, I personally think there's better players than me going who would make better suited than me but what do you guys think?

Who else is getting the 11:45 flight? If the flight is early I'll more than likely have to crash at someone's the night before, (if that's okay, hope that's not too forward) I've no way of getting to the airport that early from where I live

Just need some info on the 3v3/5v5 before I register

There's only one flight on the Wednesday, so everyone gets that one. 5v5 is on the fly usually, you don't register or anything you just rock up on the morning with a team. One person needs to reg a 3v3 team but you don't have to give names now (i think??) again, you just turn up with two other guys afaik. Someone else needs to back me up on that though!
