Hats off, it's an impressive collection. Ballpark, what does one of these cars cost you? And do you source them from the States or...?

Thank you. Yes they range differently as some of mine were brand new, some were second hand from eBay or bought off sellers through forums. On average, a diecast can cost (if your lucky) the range of €10 - €40 for older ones, and around €60 for a brand new or pre-order. This is excluding shipping and import customs fees by the way. Majority of mine come from the states. I pay €50 - €100 per diecast depends on what it comes to with shipping/import fees. Elites I pay a good bit more.

You have the platinum series circa €60 Then you have the ELITE series circa €85, which costs a bit more as they have a lower production number, a higher detailed engine, they have/had hood/trunk tethers, roof tethers, painted interior cockpit etc. just a few more added details and the lower production number also gives it its valued more. Rather than say 1,200 of a diecast being made an ELITE will a limited run of maybe 90 - 300!. depending on how many preorder that diecast.

I got a particular ELITE that cost me around €180 all in including postage/import fees and It's now a rare and hard to find diecast. I believe they go for $400 or in that range now as they are so rare. (see my third post, the coca cola 600 orange/camo car).
But I don't collect to resell. Sorry for the long post.

I still haven't really come across any fellow Irish fans, nevermind any that collect diecasts. It's an expensive hobby if you let it

I have a very small collection of these. I'll try pop up a picture later.

And yes indeed collecting models is a very expensive hobby, try some of the 1:18 F1 cars, need a small mortgage for some of them.

Bidding on one at the minute, model is nearly 10 years old and never been out of the box.

I'm nearly hoping I don't win it at this stage

Here is my Kyle Busch models from his championship winning season.

I took the top off the case as it has a reflective back and was messing up the picture. Case is probably the best thing as it has his name and year of the championship on it aswell.

They are really nice pieces. Loving the arcylic risers. Those cases arent cheap, thanks for showing them. Are you a casual fan or used to watch?

I'm not watching as much as I used to but I'll always try and watch it.

The case is the real deal, was the price of 2 of the cars but its worth it.

2018 Todd Gilliland Mobil 1™ Tundra Autographed.

I did a little customizing with this, I coloured the wheel centre hubs silver,
painted in the lugnuts and gave it some tyre tape. I also coloured in the dashboard dials etc.

Just came across youre posts.Great collection you have.I'm a big NASCAR fan, went to my 1st race in 1989,we went to Talladaga.Went to Darlington in 1990 for my 21st (got to meet my hero Bill Elliott ) and again in 1992.Then went to Phoenix and Las Vegas, also in the 90's.Went to my 1st Daytona 500 in 2003,but didnt get to another NASCAR race till 2013,where we went to the Daytona 500 again. Then went to every Daytona 500 since including this year. And I went back to Talladega 2 weeks ago for my 50th.Met Bill's son Chase on the Tuesday after the race, which he happened to win.And no doubt I'll be at a NASCAR race next year with the help of God!!

Oh wow! They are some great tracks to go to. I've never been to a race or the states myself. I think I'd like yo go to a Bristol night race or Charlotte. Charlotte because I could visit some of the race shops etc. What race you thinking of going to next year?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,331 ✭✭✭easygoing39

It will probably be the Daytona 500 again, its getting to be a bit off a tradition for us.However,I would like to go back to Darlington and you mentioning Charlotte puts the idea in my head.I've often looked up the location of some of the raceshops on Google Maps.Bristol is supposed to be a great race in terms of atmosphere, but I dislike the short tracks due to the slower speeds and cars getting lapped too easy.
