    I notice the last line of the article says that its one of the largest ever caught.

    So its not the largest then?
    Which means there was others that were bigger in the past that weren't big because of a nuclear accident.

    Catfish get huge everywhere if they survive long enough without being caught. Where are they likely not to be caught? Where there are no fishermen. Where are there likely to be no fishermen? Near Chernobyl !

    There aren't giant wolves or Foxes or bunnies around Chernoybl because those species don't grow all their lives like a catfish. What there is, is lots more wolves, foxes and bunnies around Chernoybl because that's how those species react to no competition or presence of man.

    Fuchishima gave me confidence in Nuclear power not the opposite. An old first gen power plant (newer designs even more safe) goes through a 9.0 earthquake and a giant Tsunami, badly located backup generators fail and outer vessel explodes. Outside the immediate area of the plants the radiation dosages per year are less than airline pilots get. Once they build the sarcophagus around the plant and do a bit of cleanup the are will be habitable again in a few years. It's not like Hiroshima or Nagasaki are ghost towns and they had actual Nuclear weapons dropped on them. Why is Chernoybl effectively still a nature reserve? Lack of population pressure and lack of money for major cleanup. Why is Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Fuchishima not nature reserves? Population pressure and an abundance of money for cleanup in Japan. Simple as.

    Greenpeace have a lot to answer for. Even their founder left the organisation due to their unscientific anti nuclear zealotry.

    Guessing it will be a while yet before the consequences of the radiation & contamination leaked from Fukushima is understood. Wont be anything good, but this ain't it.
    Seen wolf fish at least that size if not bigger from the NW coast of Ireland.
