Ground level higher than floor

Anyone any experience of laying concrete/tarmacadam outside a building where the ground level outside is slightly higher than the finished floor? I intend running an aqua channel along the building wall and sloping the ground level into it. My dpc level is higher up the wall (tanked) I would love some photos of something…
